Eleven Tiger FC
Eleven Tiger Football Club is a professional football club from the Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, currently competing in the Marianas Soccer League, the top tier league in the country. History Eleven Tiger was founded in 2021. The same year the club began playing in the Marianas Soccer League, despite not playing in the spring campaign. In its first season, the club defeated Tan Holdings 4–2 in the final to win the league title. Richard Steele scored two goals en route to the upset victory. In June 2023, Eleven Tiger repeated the championship, this time defeating MP United 2–1 in the final match. NMI international Sunjoon Tenorio scored both of his team's goals in the victory. Saipan
Saipan ( ch, Sa’ipan, cal, Seipél, formerly in es, Saipán, and in ja, 彩帆島, Saipan-tō) is the largest island of the Northern Mariana Islands, a commonwealth of the United States in the western Pacific Ocean. Northern Mariana Islands National Football Team
The Northern Mariana Islands national football team represents the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in international men's football. The team is controlled by the governing body for football in the Northern Mariana Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association, which is a member of the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) and since December 2020 a full member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The association is not a member of the world governing body FIFA, although it had applied for membership, and so while the national team is eligible to enter AFC and EAFF-run competitions, they are currently ineligible for global competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. Wings FC
Wings FC is a professional football club from Guam, currently competing in the Guam Soccer League. History Wings FC was founded in 1985. The club has fielded highly successful youth sides since that time. Wings FC fielded a senior team in the Guam Soccer League for the first time during the 2023 season. The club defeated Quality Distributors on February 11, 2023, for its first-ever win in the league. Nathan Nuwer and Shuntaro Suzuki scored in the 2–0 victory. In the senior team's first season, it went on to win the league title. Wings FC featured two of the top four scorers in the league. The roster also featured Jacob Toves, the league's Golden Gloves winner as best goalkeeper. Toves maintained a 1.5 goals per game average while posting two shutouts, the most in the league in that category. Guam Soccer League (GSL) is the men's top level professional football league of the Guam Football Association in the United States territory of Guam. Since 2004, the GSL has had two levels, ''Division 1'' and ''Division 2.'' Since 2007, the league has adopted a longer season that starts in the fall and ends in the spring. Previously the GSL was divided into ''Spring'' and ''Fall'' seasons. Marianas Club Championship
The Marianas Club Championship is an association football competition between clubs from neighboring Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. Founded in 2023, the tournament features the champion of the Guam Soccer League and the Marianas Soccer League 1. The goal is for the championship to expand to four clubs by 2026. The competition is sanctioned by the East Asian Football Federation. History In 2023, the pilot competition was created as part of the Guam Football Association Competition Department's four-year plan. It was believed the competition would spark renewed interest in soccer and the island's leagues while increasing the bond between the two islands. For the first edition of the championship, newly-formed Wings FC represented Guam while Eleven Tiger FC was Saipan's entrant. Sunjoon Tenorio
Sunjoon Tenorio (born 20 May 2001) is a Northern Mariana Islander international footballer who plays for Eleven Tiger and the Northern Mariana Islands national team. College career Tenorio began playing college soccer in the United States for Suffolk University in 2019. In his first season, he scored ten goals in fifteen appearances. He was the team's highest scorer in addition to being named MVP and receiving several rookie honors. The following season he transferred to Warner Pacific University and began playing for the Knights. Club career As a youth, Tenorio had played for the academy of MP United since at least 2011. That year the club had an undefeated season en route to winning the U12 division title. Richard Steele (born March 30, 2004) is a Northern Mariana Islands association footballer who currently plays for the Park–Gilbert Buccaneers and the Northern Mariana Islands national team. Career Youth As a youth Steele played for MP United for over ten years and won the top scorer award in local leagues multiple times. He was part of the MP United squad that won back-to-back U12 division titles in 2014 and 2015. Through 2016 he also played as a goalkeeper and won the Golden Gloves Award for the U12 division that season. In 2017 he was tied for fourth in scoring in the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association U14 division. That year he also competed with MPU in the Pacific Ocean Cup in Numazu, Japan.
