Eleni Gabre-Madhin
Eleni Zaude Gabre-Madhin is an Ethiopian economist, and former chief executive officer of the Ethiopia Commodity Exchange (ECX). She has had many years of experience working on agricultural markets – particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa – and has held senior positions in the World Bank, the International Food Policy Research Institute (Washington, D.C.), and United Nations (Geneva and New York City). Early life Eleni was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Her upbringing was diverse, growing up in New York City, Rwanda, and Kenya. She speaks fluent English, Amharic, French language, French, and Swahili grammar, Swahili. She graduated high school from Rift Valley Academy in Kenya with the highest of honors. Ethiopians are the native inhabitants of Ethiopia, as well as the global diaspora of Ethiopia. Ethiopians constitute several component ethnic groups, many of which are closely related to ethnic groups in neighboring Eritrea and other parts of the Horn of Africa.
