Electric Magma
Electric Magma is an instrumental heavy riff rock band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Electric Magma was formed between 2000 and 2001 by Tryg Smith, Tim Reesor and Tom Brouard. Influenced by the stoner rock movement from the mid-1990s (Fu Manchu, Kyuss, Clutch, Corrosion of Conformity), Electric Magma is known for their improvised style of riff-based rock music. Electric Magma has released seven full-length albums. Smith and Reesor, the core songwriters, remain the sole founding members. All of Electric Magma's albums have been released by Around Ahead Music, the band's record label. Electric Magma's 2012 release: ''Canadian Samurai II'' was mixed in California by Scott Reeder of Kyuss. Stoner Rock
Stoner rock, also known as stoner metal or stoner doom, is a rock music fusion genre that combines elements of doom metal with psychedelic rock and acid rock. The genre emerged during the early 1990s and was pioneered foremost by Kyuss and Sleep (band), Sleep. Characteristics Stoner rock is typically slow-to-mid tempo and features a heavily Distortion (music), distorted, Groove (music), groove-laden bass guitar, bass-heavy sound, melodic vocals, and "retro" production. Due to the similarities between stoner and sludge metal, there is often a crossover between the two genres. This hybrid has traits of both styles, but generally lacks stoner metal's laid back atmosphere and its usage of psychedelic music, psychedelia. Kyuss
Kyuss ( ) was an American rock band, formed in Palm Desert, California, in 1987. The band disbanded in 1995, and since then, members of Kyuss have gone on to form or play in several notable bands including Queens of the Stone Age, Fu Manchu, Dwarves, Eagles of Death Metal, Mondo Generator, Hermano, Unida, Slo Burn and Them Crooked Vultures. In November 2010, three former members of the band (minus Homme, who declined to participate) reunited under the adapted moniker " Kyuss Lives!" for a world tour with plans to record a new album at some point. A federal lawsuit subsequently filed by Homme resulted in Oliveri leaving the band in March 2012, and five months later a court ruled that Garcia and Bjork were not allowed to release audio recordings under the Kyuss Lives! moniker. Ken Kelly (artist)
Ken W. Kelly (May 19, 1946 – June 2, 2022) was an American fantasy artist. Over his 50-year career, he focused in particular on paintings in the sword and sorcery and heroic fantasy subgenres. Biography Kelly was the nephew of Frank Frazetta's wife Eleanor "Ellie" Frazetta ( Kelly; 1935–2009). Early in his career he was able to study the paintings of Frank Frazetta in the latter's studio. In the early 1970s he did a couple of cover paintings for ''Castle of Frankenstein'' magazine. Throughout the 1970s he was one of the foremost cover artists on Warren Publishing's '' Creepy'' and ''Eerie'' magazines. He depicted Conan the Barbarian, Tarzan and the rock acts KISS, Manowar, Sleepy Hollow, Rainbow, and Ace Frehley. His work often portrays exotic, enchanted locales and primal battlefields. ''Destroyer'' is the fourth studio album by American hard rock band Kiss, released on March 15, 1976, by Casablanca Records in the US. It was the third successive Kiss album to reach the top 40 in the US, as well as the first to chart in Germany and New Zealand. The album was certified gold by the RIAA on April 22, 1976, and platinum on November 11 of the same year, the first Kiss album to achieve platinum. The album marked a departure from the raw sound of the band's first three albums. ''Love Gun'' is the sixth studio album by American hard rock band Kiss, released on June 30, 1977. Casablanca Records and FilmWorks shipped one million copies of the album on this date. It was certified platinum and became the band's first top 5 album on the ''Billboard'' 200. The album was remastered in 1997 and again in 2014. Ian Blurton (born 1965) is a Canadian musician and record producer. Early life He was born in Champaign, Illinois in 1965, and moved to Toronto in 1973. Musical career He has been a part of Toronto's indie music scene since the early 1980s.
