Serj Tankian ( , ; born August 21, 1967) is an Armenian-American musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the alternative metal band System of a Down, which was formed in 1994. Tankian has released five albums with System of a Down ('' System of a Down'', ''Toxicity'', ''Steal This Album!'', '' Mezmerize'', '' Hypnotize'') and five solo albums ('' Elect the Dead'', '' Imperfect Harmonies'', '' Harakiri'', '' Orca'', and '' Elasticity''), as well as collaborating with musicians such as rapper Tech N9ne and folk singer Arto Tunçboyacıyan. ''Mezmerize'' is the fourth studio album by the American heavy metal band System of a Down, released on May 17, 2005, by American Recordings and Columbia Records. Upon its release, the album received acclaim from critics. The album sold over 450,000 copies in its first week (over 200,000 more than ''Toxicity'' did), and immediately topped the ''Billboard'' 200. Background ''Mezmerize'' and '' Hypnotize'' are considered two parts of a double album. ''Mezmerize'' features guitarist Daron Malakian sharing most of the vocal work with vocalist Serj Tankian, splitting the vocals at least halfway on many of the tracks. Antonio Pontarelli (born April 1, 1991), is an American singer-songwriter and rock violinist. Pontarelli has played across the United States and abroad, performed as a soloist at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and collaborated with artists such as Serj Tankian and Jethro Tull. He has won several competitions and awards including PAX TV's 2004 competition show "America's Most Talented Kid". Dan Monti, also known by his stage name Del Rey Brewer or simply Brewer, is an American musician, record producer and audio engineer who has worked with such bands as Metallica, Slayer and Guns N' Roses. The bulk of his work, however, has been in conjunction with Buckethead, with whom he has also toured as a bassist. Musical career Monti is a guitarist, bassist, and drummer, frequently adding bass parts to Buckethead albums. Bryan Kei Mantia (born February 4, 1963), known professionally as Brain, is an American rock drummer. John Dolmayan () (born July 15, 1972) is an Armenian-American musician, best known as the drummer of System of a Down. He is also the former drummer for Scars on Broadway. Dolmayan was ranked number 33 on ''Loudwire''s list of ''Top 200 Hard Rock + Metal Drummers of All Time''. Early life John Dolmayan was born in Beirut, Lebanon, to Armenian parents.
