John Dolmayan
John Dolmayan () (born July 15, 1972) is an Armenian-American musician, best known as the drummer of System of a Down. He is also the former drummer for Scars on Broadway. Dolmayan was ranked number 33 on ''Loudwire''s list of ''Top 200 Hard Rock + Metal Drummers of All Time''. Early life John Dolmayan was born in Beirut, Lebanon, to Armenian parents. During the Lebanese Civil War, his family moved to California. Dolmayan first became interested in drums at the age of two. His father was a saxophone player and when his mother would take him to watch his father play, he would mimic his father's drummer. He learned to play the drums by putting on records and practicing for hours a day, and continued said practice for years. Both ''Mezmerize'' and ''Hypnotize'' debuted at number one on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. As of June 2025, ''Hypnotize'' remains their most recent studio album. ''Mezmerize'' is the fourth studio album by the American heavy metal band System of a Down, released on May 17, 2005, by American Recordings and Columbia Records. Upon its release, the album received acclaim from critics. The album sold over 450,000 copies in its first week (over 200,000 more than ''Toxicity'' did), and immediately topped the ''Billboard'' 200. Background ''Mezmerize'' and '' Hypnotize'' are considered two parts of a double album. ''Mezmerize'' features guitarist Daron Malakian sharing most of the vocal work with vocalist Serj Tankian, splitting the vocals at least halfway on many of the tracks. Malakian wrote "Old School Hollywood" after playing in a celebrity baseball game for charity. The song mentions Tony Danza and Frankie Avalon, who also played in the game. ''Steal This Album!'' is the third studio album by the American heavy metal band System of a Down, released on November 26, 2002, by American Recordings and Columbia Records. Produced by Rick Rubin and Daron Malakian, it peaked at number 15 on the US ''Billboard'' 200. Background In early 2002, medium-quality MP3s of the album were released on the internet under the name ''Toxicity II''. The band issued a statement expressing disappointment that fans were hearing material that was unfinished, and they worked to release a completed, higher-quality version of the album, which became ''Steal This Album!''. Antranik Khachaturian (born May 4, 1975) also known as Andy Khachaturian or artistically as Ontronik (stylized as OnTroniK), is an American musician, producer and DJ. He is known for being the original drummer (1994–1997) of the metal band System of a Down and founder/lead vocalist (1999–2002) of the alt-progressive rock band The Apex Theory, as well as the member of his band VoKee. Neil Ellwood Peart ( ; September 12, 1952 – January 7, 2020) was a Canadian and American musician, known as the drummer, percussionist, and primary lyricist of the rock band Rush (band), Rush.
