Eleazar (painter)
Eleazar is a Spanish painter and sculptor who was born in Siles, Jaén, Spain in 1954. He lives and works in Barcelona, the city where he has had his workshop since 1979. Early life Eleazar was born in 1954 the Spanish town of Siles in the province of Jaén, Andalusia; he has lived in Barcelona since his youth. Work Eleazar often works in series of several related works. His influences include graffiti, Art Brut artist Jean Dubuffet and the interpretations of African masks by Picasso. His sculpture, ''The Employee of the Year'', is an homage to Dubuffet. According to the linguist Ángel Gómez Moreno, other influences include children's drawings and comics, as well as Francisco Goya's engravings. Siles, Jaén
Siles is a Spanish town and municipality in the province of Jaén, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, located in the region of Sierra de Segura, bordering the province of Albacete. It has a population of 2,451 inhabitants according to the last available census ( INE2011). Much of the municipality is located within the Natural Park of Sierra de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas. Because of its location it is a mostly forest town near the river, farmland focusing mainly olive grove, in a strip of southwest-northeast direction including the vicinity of the town center and the municipal enclave that owns the town northwest of the region. The economy is based on agriculture (olive) and tourism, contributing to it also forest harvesting and sheep farming. Art Brut
Art Brut are a Berlin-based English and German indie rock band. Their debut album, ''Bang Bang Rock & Roll'', was released on 30 May 2005, with its follow up, '' It's a Bit Complicated'', released on 25 June 2007. Named after French painter Jean Dubuffet's definition of outsider art – art by prisoners, loners, the mentally ill, and other marginalized people, and made without thought to imitation or presentation – South London's Art Brut were tagged by '' NME'' as part of the "Art Wave" scene that also included bands such as The Rakes, Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party. Jean Dubuffet
Jean Philippe Arthur Dubuffet (31 July 1901 – 12 May 1985) was a French painter and sculptor. His idealistic approach to aesthetics embraced so-called "low art" and eschewed traditional standards of beauty in favor of what he believed to be a more authentic and humanistic approach to image-making. He is perhaps best known for founding the art movement art brut, and for the collection of works—''Collection de l'art brut''—that this movement spawned. Dubuffet enjoyed a prolific art career, both in France and in America, and was featured in many exhibitions throughout his lifetime. Francisco Goya
Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes (; ; 30 March 174616 April 1828) was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker. He is considered the most important Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Diego Velázquez
Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez (baptized June 6, 1599August 6, 1660) was a Spanish painter, the leading artist in the court of King Philip IV of Spain and Portugal, and of the Spanish Golden Age. He was an individualistic artist of the Baroque period (c.1600–1750). He began to paint in a precise tenebrist style, later developing a freer manner characterized by bold brushwork. ''The Triumph of Bacchus'' (Greek title is ''Ο Θρίαμβος του Βάκχου'') is a painting by Diego Velázquez, now in the Museo del Prado, in Madrid. It is popularly known as ''Los borrachos'' or ''The Drinkers'' (politely, also ''The Drunks''). Velázquez painted ''The Triumph of Bacchus'' after arriving in Madrid from Seville and just before his voyage to Italy. The work was painted for Philip IV, who paid Velázquez 100 ducats for it. The painting shows Bacchus surrounded by drunks.
