El Triunfo de San Miguel is a village located in the northern part of the Mexican state of Michoacán and belongs to the Municipality of Numaran, located approximately 20 km from La Piedad de Cavadas and 3.5 km from Numaran over a paved road. The main economy of El Triunfo is derived from agriculture, livestock and small amounts of commerce. In 1995 the population was estimated to be 747 inhabitants. El Triunfo has a long history of sending migrant workers to the United States dating back to the Bracero Program. Michoacán, formally Michoacán de Ocampo, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Michoacán de Ocampo, is one of the 31 states which, together with Mexico City, compose the Political divisions of Mexico, Federal Entities of Mexico. La Piedad De Cavadas
La Piedad is a municipality located at in the north-west of the Mexican state of Michoacán, bordering Jalisco and Guanajuato and being the northernmost municipality in Michoacán. The municipal seat is the city of La Piedad de Cabadas. The original colonial name was San Sebastián. It is bordered by the town of Santa Ana Pacueco, Guanajuato. Both cities straddle the Lerma River. La Piedad's population was 106,490 inhabitants in the 2020 census (250,000 including its metropolitan area). Bracero Program
The Bracero Program (from the Spanish term ''bracero'' , meaning " manual laborer" or "one who works using his arms") was a temporary labor initiative between the United States and Mexico that allowed Mexican workers to be employed in the U.S. agricultural and railroad industries from 1942 to 1964. Origins and purpose The program, which was designed to fill agriculture shortages during World War II, offered employment contracts to 4.6 million braceros in 24 U.S. states. It was the largest guest worker program in U.S. history. The program was the result of a series of laws and diplomatic agreements, initiated on August 4, 1942, when the United States signed the Mexican Farm Labor Agreement with Mexico. Las Jilguerillas
Las Jilguerillas was a Mexican ranchera duo that was formed in the mid-1950s by sisters Imelda and María Amparo Higuera. The municipal president of Numarán considers them icons of ranchera music, and they have had several successful tours in both Mexico and the United States. They have also have appeared in several Mexican films.
