Ekow Essuman
Ekow Essuman (born 30 March 1989) is a British professional boxer who has held the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles since July 2021. Professional career Essuman made his professional debut on 1 December 2016, scoring a four-round points decision (PTS) victory against Andrej Cepur at the Holiday Inn, Birmingham, England. After compiling a record of 8–0 (2 KOs), he faced Andy Keates for the vacant English welterweight title on 20 October 2018 at the Harvey Hadden Sports Village in Nottingham, England. Essuman knocked Keates down twice in the fourth round en route to a fifth-round technical knockout (TKO). He returned to the Harvey Hadden Sports Village for his next fight, successfully defending his English title against former British super-lightweight champion, Tyrone Nurse, via majority decision (MD) on 16 March 2019. Welterweight is a weight class in combat sports. Originally the term "welterweight" was used only in boxing, but other combat sports like Muay Thai, taekwondo, and mixed martial arts also use it for their own weight division system to classify the opponents. Bingham is a market town in the Rushcliffe borough of Nottinghamshire, England, east of Nottingham, 11.7 miles (18.8 km) south-west of Newark-on-Trent and 14.5 miles (23.3 km) west of Grantham. Chris Jenkins (born 14 August 1988) is a Welsh professional boxer who held the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles between 2019 and July 2021. Amateur career Jenkins represented Wales at the 2011 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. Arena Birmingham (known for sponsorship reasons as Utilita Arena Birmingham, and previously as The Barclaycard Arena and originally as the National Indoor Arena) is an indoor arena and sporting venue in central Birmingham, United Kingdom.
