Arena Birmingham
Utilita Arena Birmingham (previously known as Arena Birmingham, The Barclaycard Arena, originally as the National Indoor Arena and still commonly called The NIA) is an indoor arena and sporting venue in central Birmingham, England. It is owned by parent company the NEC Group. When it was opened in 1991, it was the largest indoor arena in the UK. The arena is located alongside the BCN Main Line, Birmingham Canal Navigations Main Line's Old Turn Junction and opposite the National Sea Life Centre (Birmingham), National Sea Life Centre in Brindleyplace. The building straddles the main Rugby–Birmingham–Stafford line, Birmingham to Wolverhampton Intercity railway line (originally the Stour Valley Line), but does not have a station of its own. Linford Christie (born 2 April 1960) is a Jamaican-born British former Sprint (running), sprinter and athletics coach. He is the only British man to have won gold medals in the 100 metres at all four major competitions open to British athletes: the Olympic Games, the IAAF World Championships in Athletics, World Championships, the European Athletics Championships, European Championships and the Commonwealth Games. He was the first European athlete to break the 10-second barrier in the 100 m and held the UK records in athletics, British record in the event for close to 30 years. He is a former world indoor record holder over 200 metres, and a former List of European records in athletics, European record holder in the 60 metres, 100 m and 4 × 100 metres relay. Gladiators (1992 British TV Series)
''Gladiators'' is a British sports entertainment game show, produced by London Weekend Television, presented by Ulrika Jonsson and narrated by John Sachs, and originally broadcast on ITV. Based upon the American television programme '' American Gladiators'', the show sees four contestants, split into pairs by gender, compete in a series of physically challenging events against the show's resident "Gladiators", before competing against their respective contestant in one final event. Each series functions like a tournament, with the winner of that year's competition being crowned champion for their respective gender. Barclaycard (; stylised as barclaycard) is a brand for credit cards of Barclays PLC. It is considered as the United Kingdom's first and now biggest credit card provider with 5 million accounts. History Barclays launched Barclaycard on 29 June 1966, initially as a charge card, but following Bank of England agreement to the offering of revolving credit, it became the first credit card in the United Kingdom on 8 November 1967.
