Scottish Gaelic (, ; Endonym and exonym, endonym: ), also known as Scots Gaelic or simply Gaelic, is a Celtic language native to the Gaels of Scotland. As a member of the Goidelic language, Goidelic branch of Celtic, Scottish Gaelic, alongside both Irish language, Irish and Manx language, Manx, developed out of Old Irish. Eilidh Whiteford
Eilidh Whiteford (born 24 April 1969) is a Scottish National Party (SNP) politician who served as the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Banff and Buchan from 2010 to 2017. In the 2010–15 Parliament, she was the SNP's spokesperson for Women; for Fishing, Food and Rural Affairs; and for International Development. During the 2015–17 Parliament, she sat on the Scottish Affairs Select Committee and was the SNP's Westminster Spokesperson for Social Justice, Work and Pensions. Eilidh MacAskill Watt (22 January 1908 – 25 August 1996) was a Gaelic broadcaster, teacher, and writer from the Isle of Skye. She was a campaigner for equality and women's rights, and "almost certainly the most prolific of all the writers of short fiction in Gaelic." Early life and education Eilidh (Helen) MacAskill was born in Skinidin on the Isle of Skye on 22 January 1908. Eilidh Jane McIntyre (born 4 June 1994) is a British former sailor, who won the gold medal alongside Hannah Mills in the 470 event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She won the 2019 470 World Championships, and came second at the 2017 470 World Championships. She finished third at the 2015 470 European Championships, and second at the 2019 and 2021 events, as well as having won multiple Sailing World Cup medals. Mac-Talla (band)
(Scottish Gaelic for "echo") was a Scottish Gaelic " supergroup" formed in 1992 at the suggestion of record label owner Robin Morton. Morton credited the individual band members as some of those responsible for bringing Gaelic music to wider public attention. The group comprised three singers: Eilidh Mackenzie, a recipient of the Gold Medal, Christine Primrose, and Arthur Cormack; plus harpist and cellist Alison Kinnaird (also Morton's spouse), described by the Saltire Society in 2015 as one of Scotland's "most influential musicians" and keyboardist Blair Douglas, formerly of Runrig.
