Edward Braunstein
Edward C. Braunstein (born April 21, 1981) is an American politician. He is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly representing the 26th Assembly District in Queens, New York. Braunstein received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the State University of New York at Albany. After college he worked as a legislative assistant in the New York City office of Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, while also attending evening classes at New York Law School. He graduated ''magna cum laude'' in February 2009 and subsequently passed the New York State bar exam that same month. He has served on Queens Community Board 11 and was a member of its Parks Committee and Education Committee. Braunstein won a September 2010 Democratic primary election to replace retiring Assembly member Ann-Margaret Carrozza. New York's 26th State Assembly district is one of the 150 districts in the New York State Assembly in the United States. It has been represented by Democrat Edward Braunstein since 2011. Sheldon Silver
Sheldon Silver (February 13, 1944 – January 24, 2022) was an American Democratic Party politician, attorney, and convicted felon from New York City who served as Speaker of the New York State Assembly from 1994 to 2015. A native of Manhattan's Lower East Side, Silver served in the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 2015. In 1994, he was elected as Speaker; he held that position for two decades. During this period, Silver was known as one of the most powerful politicians in the state. Silver was arrested on federal corruption charges in early 2015, and resigned as Speaker of the Assembly shortly afterward.
