Eduardo Sánchez De Fuentes – 7 September 1944) was a Cuban composer, and an author of books on the history of Cuban folk music.
The outstanding habanera ''Tú'', written when he was sixteen, was his best-known composition. As an adult, he composed the scores for the opera ''Yumurí'', the ballet ''Dioné'', the oratorio ''Navidad'' and the cantata ''Anacaona''.
His writings are still charming and informative today, though their standing has suffered from an accurate criticism by later musicologists. They realized that he had systematically underestimated the contribution of the Africans ...

Alma Gluck (May 11, 1884October 27, 1938) was a Romanian-born American soprano. Biography Gluck was born as Reba Feinsohn to a Jewish family in Iași, Romania, the daughter of Zara and Leon Feinsohn. Gluck moved to the United States at a young age in 1889. Although her initial success came at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, Gluck later concertized widely in America and became an early recording artist. Although various sources claim that her recording of "Carry Me Back to Old Virginny" for the Victor Talking Machine Co. was the first celebrity recording by a classical musician to sell one million copies, Victor ledgers do not support the claim—nor did Gluck ever make such a claim herself. ''Contradanza'' (also called ''contradanza criolla'', ''danza'', ''danza criolla'', or ''habanera'') is the Spanish and Spanish-American version of the contradanse, which was an internationally popular style of music and dance in the 18th century, derived from the English country dance and adopted at the court of France. Contradanza was brought to America and there took on folkloric forms that still exist in Bolivia, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Panama and Ecuador. Lydie Solomon (Lydie Waï Solomon) (born 1982), is a French pianist and actress, born to a Franco- Romanian father and a Korean mother. She speaks fluent French, Korean, English, and Spanish and has a working knowledge of German and Italian. An early virtuoso Solomon began playing the piano at the age of two, and at age seven she joined the École Normale de Musique de Paris. She studied under the teaching of Pascal Devoyon and Dominique Merlet. She gave her first recital when she was ten years old in the ''Printemps musical de Silly'', Belgium. At thirteen, she won the Radio France competition, and was given the chance to perform with the Orchestre National de Radio-France, which was broadcast on France Musique.
