Ed Hall (band)
Ed Hall was a noise rock band formed in Austin, Texas, United States in 1985. The band played a mix of post-hardcore and psychedelic rock and was described by ''Trouser Press'' as "Austin's resident heirs to the Butthole Surfers' weird-rock crown". Ed Hall was a trio not containing any member of that name; Gary Chester handled guitar duties, with Larry Strub on bass. Drumming on the band's first two albums was handled by Kevin Whitley, who was replaced by Lyman Hardy until the group dissolved. History Early years (1985–1988) Ed Hall was founded in 1985 by John Buron, Gary Chester, Andy Colvin and Larry Strub. Larry Strub had moved to Austin in the early eighties to attend the University of Texas where he met drummer John Buron, who was interested in starting a band. Jakob (band)
Jakob is a New Zealand post-rock band, based in the Hawkes Bay city of Napier. The band consists of guitarist Jeff Boyle, bassist Maurice Beckett, and drummer Jason Johnston. They have been compared to such bands as Mogwai, Sonic Youth, and High Dependency Unit, though they largely eschew any vocals or samples in their songs. History The band formed in July 1998, and began by opening for New Zealand bands Salmonella Dub and Pitch Black at the local pub O'Flaherty's. Butch Vig
Bryan David "Butch" Vig (born August 2, 1955) is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer, best known as the drummer and co-producer of the alternative rock band Garbage and the producer of the diamond-selling Nirvana album '' Nevermind''. His work on the latter earned him the nickname the Nevermind Man. A native of Wisconsin, Vig was based in Madison for much of his career, from studying at the University of Wisconsin to performing in local bands Spooner and Fire Town. He eventually set up his own recording studio in Madison, Smart Studios, with bandmate Steve Marker. After becoming well-known as a producer, he formed and played drums with Garbage, who sold 17 million records over a ten-year period. ''Gloryhole'' is the third studio album by Texas noise rock band Ed Hall, released in April 1992 by Trance Syndicate. ''Gloryhole'' was the last Ed Hall album to feature drummer Kevin Whitley, who had been playing with the band since 1987. He was replaced by Lyman Hardy, who had been friends with the band since 1989, shortly before tour in support of ''Glory'' commenced. Background Ed Hall had already released two albums, ''Albert'' and '' Love Poke Here'', on Berkley-based label Boner Records. King Coffey
King Coffey (born Jeffrey Coffey; 1964) is an American drummer, known for being the drummer of the psychedelic/noise rock band Butthole Surfers. He began drumming in a Fort Worth hardcore punk band called The Hugh Beaumont Experience in high school. Around that same time, he also published a fanzine called ''Throbbing Cattle''. He saw the Butthole Surfers for the first time in 1982 at a time when Scott Matthews was their drummer. Coffey replaced him in 1983 and is still the band's official drummer. In 1990, Coffey founded the independent record label Trance Syndicate, and released records by primarily Texas-based artists, including his band Drain. In 1995, he co-founded the Emperor Jones record label with his husband Craig Stewart.
