Eccleshall Football Club is a football club based in Eccleshall, Staffordshire, England. They are currently members of the and play at Pershall Park. History The club was established in 1971 with involvement from the staff at Eccleshall Secondary School and was originally named Eccleshall Old Boys.Club History Eccleshall F.C. They joined the Mid-Staffordshire League, and in 1973–74 the club won the Division Three Cup and finished second in the division, earning promotion to Division Two. In 1974–75 the club won the Division Two Cup. In 1975 the club adopted its current name. They joined the Staffordshire County League in 1979 and were promoted to the Premier Division in 1980–81. Eccleshall () is a town and civil parish in the Stafford district, in the county of Staffordshire, England. It is located seven miles northwest of Stafford, and six miles west-southwest of Stone. Eccleshall is twinned with Sancerre in France. History According to the Domesday Book, Eccleshall in 1086 was no more than a small village of about one hundred inhabitants. A few fragments of stone at the base of the tower of the present Parish Church of Holy Trinity suggest that a stone church was in existence about this time and the base of a 10th-century cross still stands outside the church. The oldest part of the church, the pillars and arches of the nave, were begun in 1180 while the remainder of the church was completed during the 13th century, with a fine clerestory being added in the 15th century. Marston Road is a Association football, football ground in Stafford, England. It is the home ground of Stafford Rangers F.C., a semi-professional team who play in the Northern Premier League. Ground history The first competitive game at the ground took place on Saturday 5 September 1896, a North Staffordshire League fixture against Dresden United F.C., Dresden United Reserves. Players changed in an upstairs club room at the Albion Hotel before crossing the road to what was then referred to as the Albion Ground. The Football Association Challenge Vase, also known as the Isuzu FA Vase for sponsorship reasons, is an annual football competition run by and named after The Football Association (The FA), for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System.
