Earle High School
Earle High School, located in Earle, Arkansas, United States is an accredited public high school and the sole institution of the Earle School District. It is one of the four public high schools in Crittenden County. On May 2, 2008, the school suffered damage from a series of destructive tornadoes that affected the region. Academics The curriculum at Earle High School follows the Smart Core program established by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). Students complete a comprehensive course of study, including regular classes and exams and have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams in subjects like English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies that may grant college credit. The school district encompasses of land, The district includes portions of Crittenden County, serving Earle and most of Jennette. It also includes portions of Cross County. Founded in 1919, the district proves comprehensive education for more than 700 pre-kindergarten through grade 12 students while employing more than 140 teachers and staff. The Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) is the primary sanctioning body for high school sports in state of Arkansas. AAA is a member association of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFSHSA). Jaylen Smith is an American politician who is the mayor of Earle, Arkansas. At age 18, he became one of the youngest mayors ever elected in the United States. Early life and education Smith graduated from Earle High School in May 2022. Career In 2022, running as a Democratic Party candidate, Smith won the election to be the mayor of Earle, Arkansas. He won 235 votes, beating his rival candidate Nemi Matthews, who received 185 votes. He was sworn into office on January 3, 2023. His victory made him the youngest black mayor in US history. This also made him one of the youngest mayors of any race in the United States. Smith's mayoral priorities include improving public safety and transportation, beautification and renewal of underused housing, emergency preparedness, and addressing the food desert in Earle. Gerry Bohanon (born November 26, 1999) is an American college football quarterback for the BYU Cougars who previously played for the South Florida Bulls and the Baylor Bears. Early life Bohanon attended Earle High School in Earle, Arkansas. As a senior in 2017, he passed for 2,675 yards and 34 touchdowns, along with an additional 1,200 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. In 2017, he was named to the Elite 11 finals.
