Dănilă Artiomov (born 16 October 1994 in Tiraspol) is a Moldovan swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke events. Artiomov established a Moldovan record of 1:01.60 to earn a gold medal in the boys' 100 m breaststroke at the 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. Artiomov qualified for the Swimming at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's 100 metre breaststroke, men's 100 m breaststroke at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London by eclipsing a FINA B-standard entry time of 1:02.30 from the Ukrainian Championships in Dnipropetrovsk. He challenged seven other swimmers on the second heat, including Olympic veterans Malick Fall (swimmer), Malick Fall of Senegal, Vladislav Polyakov of Kazakhstan, and Jakob Jóhann Sveinsson of Iceland. Breaststroke Swimming
Breaststroke is a human swimming, swimming style in which the swimmer is on their chest and the torso does not rotate. It is the most popular recreational style due to the swimmer's head being out of the water a large portion of the time, and that it can be swum comfortably at slow speeds. Azad Al-Barazi (; born January 4, 1988) is an American-Syrian swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke events. The grandson of Syrian Prime Minister Muhsin al-Barazi’s cousin, Al-Barazi holds a dual citizenship between his parents' nation Syria and the United States, where he resides. Biography He was invited to apply for the Syrian citizenship, after he was seen swimming laps in a public pool in 2010. Following he represented Syria in several swimming events such as two Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016. His main goal is to give hope for the people in Syria who are having a difficult time during the Syrian Civil War. In the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Al-Barazi qualified for the men's 100 m breaststroke, as a member of the Syrian team. Vladislav Vitalyevich Polyakov (also ''Vlad Polyakov'', ; born 30 November 1983 in Petropavlovsk) is a Kazakhstani swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke events. He swam for his native Kazakhstan at three Olympic Games (2004, 2008, and 2012), and eventually finished fifth in both 100 and 200 m breaststroke at his official Olympic debut in Athens. In total, he has won eight medals in major international tournaments, including his first career gold from the 2006 FINA World Short Course Championships in Shanghai, China. While residing in the United States, Polyakov is a five-time SEC champion, a double NCAA titleholder, and a two-time gold medalist at the national championships.
