Dwight N. Manley
Dwight N. Manley (born February 23, 1966) is an American businessman, Managing Partner of California Gold Marketing Group LLC, numismatist, professional sports agent, and real estate developer from Brea, California. Early life and interest in numismatics Manley's interest in numismatics began at the age of six when he received a 1909 Lincoln cent. His passion for coin collecting was further nurtured through the American Numismatic Association's (ANA) popular Summer Seminar which he attended in 1981 thanks to a scholarship he won, which was encouraged by the ANA and its governor. Contributions to numismatics In 2001, Manley funded a multi-million-dollar renovation of the American Numismatic Association's (ANA) museum and library. The library more than doubled its shelf space and expanded its climate-controlled rare book room. Brea (; ) is a city in northern Orange County, California, United States. The population as of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census was 47,325. It is southeast of Los Angeles. Lincoln Cent
The Lincoln cent (sometimes called the Lincoln penny) is a one-cent coin that has been struck by the United States Mint every year since 1909. The obverse and reverse, obverse, or heads, side was designed by Victor David Brenner, as was the original reverse, depicting two stalks of wheat (thus "wheat pennies", struck 1909–1958). The coin has seen several reverse, or tails, designs and now bears one by Lyndall Bass depicting a Union shield. All coins struck by the United States government with a value of of a dollar are called cents because the United States has always minted coins using decimals. The American Numismatic Association (ANA) is an organization founded in 1891 by George Francis Heath. Walter Henry Breen Jr. (September 5, 1928 – April 27, 1993) was an American numismatist, writer, and convicted child sex offender. He was known among coin collectors for writing ''Walter Breen's Complete Encyclopedia of U.S. and Colonial Coins''; "Breen numbers", from his encyclopedia, are widely used to attribute varieties of coins. He was also known for activity in the science fiction fan community and for his writings in defense of pederasty as a NAMBLA activist.
