Dutch Windmills was a professional basketball club based in Dordrecht, Netherlands. The club was founded in 2017 and entered the Dutch Basketball League for the 2018–19 season. In April of the same season, the club withdrew from the league due to financial problems. Home games of the club were played at the Sportboulevard Dordrecht, which has a capacity for 1,100 people. History On 14 September 2017, the establishment of the club Dutch Windmills was announced along with the intention to enter the Dutch Basketball League for the 2017–18 season. On 3 May 2018, the DBL officially announced the team's participation in the upcoming season. On 6 July, Geert Hammink was appointed as head coach. Windmills played its debut game in the DBL on 7 October 2018, and lost 64–78 to Landstede Zwolle. Dutch Basketball League
The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential. The league began in 1960 as the ''Eredivisie'' and was organized by the NBB and later the FEB. In 1977 the league introduced play-offs. As of 2019, the Dutch Basketball League consists of ten teams and plays under the FIBA rules. Geert Hammink
Geert Hendrik Hammink (born 12 July 1969) is a Dutch former basketball player and current coach. He is the current head coach of the Skyliners Frankfurt of the German Basketball Bundesliga. He was selected by the Orlando Magic in the first round (26th overall) of the 1993 NBA Draft. Hammink played for the Magic and had a small stint with the Golden State Warriors in 3 NBA seasons. In his NBA career, Hammink appeared in 8 games and scored a total of 14 points. He played college basketball at Louisiana State University (LSU). He had a small role as a member of the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team in the movie '' Blue Chips''. Landstede Zwolle
Landstede Hammers is a Dutch basketball club based in Zwolle. The club plays in the BNXT League, the Dutch top tier division. The club was founded as Cees Lubbers The Hammers in 1995. In 1999, the club’s name was changed into Landstede Hammers. In 2001, the club received its current name Landstede Basketbal as the team became part of the same-named educational institution in Zwolle. The home games of the club are played in the Landstede Sportcentrum. In its existence, Landstede won the DBL championship one time in 2019. NBB Cup
The Basketball Cup, formerly the NBB Cup ( nl, NBB-Beker), is an annual cup competition for Dutch basketball teams organised by the Basketball Nederland. Every team in the Netherlands can participate by signing up for the preliminary rounds. Professional basketball teams from the Dutch Basketball League (DBL) enter the tournament in the fourth round. From 1977 until 1990 professional teams were not allowed to participate in the competition. The tournament is organized in a knock-out format, with quarter- and semi-finals being two-legged series while the final is played in a single game. 2018–19 Dutch Basketball League
The 2018–19 Dutch Basketball League (DBL) was the 59th season of the Dutch Basketball League, the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands. The regular season started on 6 October 2018 and ended 30 April 2019. The best eight teams qualify for the playoffs which start on 2 May 2019. Donar was the defending champion. The season saw Landstede Zwolle win its first domestic championship, after defeating defending champions Donar in the finals. Format Due to the increase of teams from nine to ten, the format for the DBL season was changed. The eight highest-placed teams during the regular season qualify for the play-offs, while the two last-placed teams are eliminated. In the quarter-finals, a best-of-three series is played. 2018–19 NBB Cup
The 2018–19 NBB Cup ( nl, 2018–19 NBB-Beker) was the 51st edition of the Netherlands' national basketball cup tournament. Donar was the defending champion. ZZ Leiden won its third national cup. Format In the first, second and third round teams from the Dutch second, third and fourth division participate. From the fourth round, teams from the Dutch Basketball League (DBL) enter the competition. Quarter- and semi-finals are played in a two-legged format. When a team form a tier lower than the DBL played a DBL team, one win is sufficient for the latter to advance to the next round. Jito Kok (born 23 March 1994) is a Dutch professional basketball player who plays for Heroes Den Bosch of the BNXT League. Standing at 206 cm (6 ft 9 in), Kok plays as center. He also plays for the Netherlands national team. Professional career On 14 June 2016, Kok signed a one-year deal with Lavrio B.C. of the Greek Basket League.
