Dunfermline Football Club was an association football club from Dunfermline in Scotland. The club entered the Scottish Cup every season from 1876–77 to 1889–90. However the club only won 3 ties, plus one after which it was disqualified; on 7 occasions the club scratched before playing a match. History The club was formed in 1874 as a way for members of the Dunfermline Cricket Club to keep fit over the winter, after cricket club member David Brown saw a Queen's Park F.C. match in Glasgow and bought a football to take home. As one of the first clubs in the east of Scotland, the club in its early days found it difficult to find opponents, but before the 1876–77 season it was admitted to the Edinburgh Football Association, entitling it to take part in the Edinburgh FA Cup; this was welcome to the local sides as the Heart of Midlothian had just "broken up". Newcastleton, also called Copshaw Holm, is a village in Liddesdale, the Scottish Borders, a few miles from the border with England, on the Liddel Water. It is within the county of Roxburghshire. It is the site of Hermitage Castle. Newcastleton is east of Langholm, south of Hawick, north of Carlisle and south of Edinburgh. History Newcastleton was built as a result of the land clearances in the 1790s when people were forced to move from Old Castleton village. There has been a folk festival at Newcastleton since 1970. Dunfermline (; sco, Dunfaurlin, gd, Dùn Phàrlain) is a city, parish and former Royal Burgh, in Fife, Scotland, on high ground from the northern shore of the Firth of Forth. The city currently has an estimated population of 58,508. According to the National Records of Scotland, the Greater Dunfermline area has a population of 76,210. Scottish Junior Cup
The Scottish Junior Cup is an annual football competition organised by the Scottish Junior Football Association. The competition has been held every year since the inception of the SJFA in 1886 and, as of the 2022–23 edition, 108 teams compete in the tournament. The cup has an unseeded knockout format with semi-finals over two legs and the final played at a neutral venue, always that of an SPFL club. Since the 2006–07 season, the winner of the Junior Cup Final has qualified for the following season's senior Scottish Cup. The competition is named the Macron Scottish Cup for sponsorship reasons. Lassodie is an abandoned settlement located two miles south-west of Kelty, bertween Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath, in Fife. History The name Lassodie was a collective for three settlements, named Old Rows, New Rows (or Parley), and Fairfield, all lying on a road from Kingseat to a series of mines. The name derives from the Scots Gaelic ''lios aodann'', meaning "garden on the brow of a hill". The earliest known record of the name is as "Lassody", describing a tower in the Blaeu Atlas of Scotland of 1654. The first known use of the area was as the site of a mill in the 18th century, and then as a farm, known as Braehead, belonging to the Dewar family, who held the Lairdship of Lassodie. The right to collect coal was leased from 1825 at the latest, and pit mining is known to have taken place in the area from 1856. In 1860, Messrs. Alloa Athletic Football Club is a Scottish association football semi-professional club based in the town of Alloa, Clackmannanshire. Formed as Alloa in 1880, the football club shortly changed its name to Alloa Association, and then to Alloa Athletic in 1881.
