Alloa Athletic
Alloa Athletic Football Club is a Scottish association football semi-professional club based in the town of Alloa, Clackmannanshire. They compete in as a member of the Scottish Professional Football League. According to the official club history, they were formed as Clackmannan County in 1878, the football club shortly changing its name to Alloa Association and then to Alloa Athletic in 1883. The club was elected to the second tier of the Scottish Football League in 1921–22, earning promotion to the top flight in its first season after winning the Second Division. Below the top two tiers, Alloa Athletic has finished runners-up in the third tier a record nine times without ever winning, the most recent coming in 2016–17, when they failed to gain promotion to the Championship via the play-offs. Central Football League
There have been at least three competitions in Scotland known as the Central Football League. The first was originally formed in 1896 by five clubs – Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline Athletic, Fair City Athletic, Kirkcaldy and St Johnstone. Recreation Park, Alloa
Recreation Park, also known as Recreation Grounds, The Recs and The Indodrill Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. It is the home ground of Scottish Professional Football League team Alloa Athletic, who have played there since 1895. Additionally, Broomhill (formerly BSC Glasgow) of the Scottish Lowland Football League have been groundsharing at Recreation Park since 2016. From 2025- Stirling University 2nd team who play in the EoSFL will groundshare going forward. Central Girls Football Academy have used the stadium for home matches from 2017. Alex Totten
Alexander Totten (born 12 February 1946) is a Scottish former football player and manager. Playing career Growing up in Dennyloanhead, Stirlingshire, he signed for Liverpool straight from school in 1960 before signing for top division Dundee back in Scotland in 1964. After a season, he moved onto Dunfermline Athletic where he made nearly 30 top division league appearances over four seasons. In 1969, he moved on to Falkirk, racking up another 20 starts over his two seasons at Brockville and also scoring his first Senior goal. In July 1971 Totten transferred to Dumfries side Queen of the South and became a first team regular for the first time his career in the lower division. His final transfer came in July 1973 with a move to Alloa Athletic where he wound down his on-field career and became manager in 1980. Hugh Wilson (football Manager)
Hugh Wilson (c. 1934 – 2 September 1992) was a Scottish football manager, who worked for Alloa Athletic and Cowdenbeath. Wilson worked as chief scout for Alloa Athletic for 10 years until he was appointed manager in October 1974. He guided Alloa to promotion in 1976–77, but the club was relegated in 1977–78. Wilson resigned as Alloa manager near to the end of the 1979–80 season, and was replaced by Alex Totten. He then worked as chief scout for Falkirk for two years before being appointed manager of Cowdenbeath. Wilson was from Ballingry. John White (footballer Born 1937)
John Anderson White (28 April 1937 – 21 July 1964) was a Scottish international football midfielder and sometime inside right who played a significant role for Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) during their Double winning season in 1960–61. He had two brothers, Eddie and Tom, who were also professional footballers. White was killed by a lightning strike at the age of 27. Playing career Alloa Athletic White first played at senior level for Alloa Athletic under the management of Jasper 'Jerry' Kerr. He debuted in the 1956–57 season. Kerr paired White in an effective inside forward combination with Dennis Gillespie. In the 68 league appearances White made for The Wasps, he scored 26 goals. The ''John White Lounge'' is still a feature at the Clackmannanshire club's ground. Falkirk White was bought by Falkirk in August 1958 for £3,300 (£ today). Alloa (Received Pronunciation ; Scottish pronunciation /ˈaloʊa/; , possibly meaning "rock plain") is a town in Clackmannanshire in the Central Lowlands of Scotland.
