The Dublin Suburban Rail () network, branded as Commuter (Iarnród Éireann), Commuter, is a railway network that serves the city of Dublin, Ireland, most of the Greater Dublin Area and outlying towns. Docklands Railway Station
Docklands Station (''Stáisiún Dugthailte'', also known as ''Ceantar na nDugaí'') is a terminus railway station serving the Dublin Docklands area in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is owned and operated by Iarnród Éireann and was part of the Irish Government's Transport 21 initiative. The station is one of three termini for the Western Commuter service run by Iarnród Éireann, the others being Dublin Connolly railway station, Dublin Connolly and Dublin Pearse railway station, Dublin Pearse. Grand Canal Dock railway station () serves the Grand Canal Dock area in Dublin, Ireland. Description Like several stations in central Dublin such as Tara Street railway station, Dublin Pearse railway station and Clontarf Road railway station, it is elevated above street level, with steps leading down to Barrow Street in South Lotts, beside Google's European headquarters. A lift is available for access from street level. The information office is only staffed during events at the Aviva Stadium. The station typically closes for two hours after such events in the interest of crowd control. The station has three platforms. Portlaoise railway station is a station on the Dublin to Cork/Limerick lines in Ireland. It is also the terminus for the South Western Commuter also called the Portlaoise Commuter Line which forms part of the Dublin Suburban Rail network in the commuter belt for Dublin. It is the busiest county town railway station in the midlands region with up to 32 trains to Dublin (10 Non-Stop) and 30 trains from Dublin (9 Non-Stop) per day. Heuston Station, ( ; ; formerly Kingsbridge Station) also known as Dublin Heuston, is one of Dublin's largest train station, railway stations and links the capital with the south, southwest and west of Ireland. It is operated by Iarnród Éireann (IÉ), the national railway operator. It also houses the head office of its parent company, CIÉ, Córas Iompair Éireann (CIÉ). The station is named in honour of Seán Heuston, an executed leader of the 1916 Easter Rising, who had worked in the station's offices. The Red Line () is one of the two lines of Dublin's Luas light rail system. The Red Line runs in an east–west direction through the city centre, north of the River Liffey, before travelling southwest to Tallaght, with a fork to Citywest and Saggart. The Red Line opened on 26 September 2004. History Construction work began in March 2001 on the Tallaght to Connolly line, as well as the Sandyford to St. Stephen's Green section of the second line, with Gio. Ansaldo & C., Ansaldo of Italy and MVM of Australia getting the contract to build the system. Green Line (Luas)
The Green Line () is one of the two lines of Dublin's Luas light rail system. The Green Line was formerly entirely in the south side of Dublin city. It mostly follows the route of the old Harcourt Street railway line, which was reserved for possible re-use when it closed in 1958. The Green Line allows for passengers to transfer at O’ Connell GPO and Marlborough to Luas Red Line services and also allows commuters to use Broombridge as an interchange station to reach outer suburbs such as Castleknock and Ongar as well as Iarnród Éireann services. The Green Line from St Stephen's Green to Sandyford launched on 30 June 2004. An extension to the Bride's Glen stop at Cherrywood was opened on 16 October 2010. Broombridge Railway Station
Broombridge (, previously ''Droichead na Scuab'') is a railway station beside a Luas Tram stop serving Cabra, Dublin 7, Ireland. It lies on the southern bank of the Royal Canal at the western end of what had been Liffey Junction station on the erstwhile Midland Great Western Railway (MGWR). It takes its name from Broome Bridge, which crosses the canal, where William Rowan Hamilton developed the mathematical notion of quaternions. A plaque on the adjacent canal bridge and the name of the Luas Maintenance depot on site, Hamilton Depot, commemorates this. Description The railway station was opened on 2 July 1990.
