Duane Flatmo
Duane Flatmo (born 1957) is an American artist best known for his murals, label art and kinetic art sculptures in northern California. Career Flatmo’s first mural was the ''Bucksport Mural'' painted in 1984 at Bucksport Sporting Goods in Eureka, California. A mural is any piece of Graphic arts, graphic artwork that is painted or applied directly to a wall, ceiling or other permanent substrate. Lost Coast Brewery is an independent brewery located in Eureka, California. It produces year-round and seasonal beers and has received various awards from both local and national brewing organizations. Electric Daisy Carnival, commonly known as EDC, is an electronic dance music festival organized by promoter and distributor Insomniac. The annual flagship event, EDC Las Vegas, is held in May at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and is the largest electronic dance music festival in North America as of 2024. Nocturnal Wonderland, formerly known as Nocturnal Festival, is an electronic dance music festival in San Bernardino, California, United States, founded in 1995. History Nocturnal Wonderland is a two-day event (a three-day festival from 2011 to 2016) that used to occur in early September around Labor Day. There are usually five stages with around 60 different artists performing over the two nights. The genres present at the festival vary between trance, drum and bass, breakbeat, and house. Burning Man is a week-long large-scale desert event focused on "community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance" held annually in the Western United States. Kinetic Art
Kinetic art is art from any medium that contains movement perceivable by the viewer or that depends on motion for its effects. Canvas paintings that extend the viewer's perspective of the artwork and incorporate multidimensional movement are the earliest examples of kinetic art. More pertinently speaking, kinetic art is a term that today most often refers to three-dimensional sculptures and figures such as mobiles that move naturally or are machine operated (see e.g. videos on this page of works of George Rickey and Uli Aschenborn). The moving parts are generally powered by wind, a motor or the observer. Kinetic art encompasses a wide variety of overlapping techniques and styles.
