Draconian (band)
Draconian is a Swedish gothic metal band formed in Säffle in 1994. The band's lineup had changed over the years, with only founding members Anders Jacobsson and Johan Ericson still active. Since the release of their first album ''Where Lovers Mourn'' in 2003 the lineup has been mostly stable, with Jerry Torstensson on drums, and Lisa Johansson and Heike Langhans alternately singing clean vocal parts. Since then 7 studio albums and various singles and music videos have been released. In 2024 the band celebrated its 30th anniversary. History Formation and demos (1994–2002) Draconian was formed in 1994 in Säffle, Sweden. In May 1994, drummer and vocalist Johan Ericson, bassist and vocalist Jesper Stolpe and guitarist Andreas Hindenäs assembled the band Kerberos, initially playing melodic death metal with black metal influences. Säffle
Säffle () is a locality and the seat of Säffle Municipality, Värmland County, Sweden with 9,150 inhabitants in 2016. In 1951 the town of Säffle was officially awarded City status, the last place for this to occur in Sweden. This was abolished in 1971 and Säffle is now the seat of the much larger Säffle Municipality. History Säffle's main growth as a town took place after the building of a canal in 1837 which allowed boats to safely bypass a section of turbulent water and rapids in the Byälven river. In 1879 the railway came, linking Säffle with both the west and east coasts, the capital Stockholm and the busy port of Gothenburg. Hellfest (), also known as Hellfest Summer Open Air, is a rock festival focusing on heavy metal music, held annually in June in Clisson, France. Its high attendance makes it the French music festival with the largest turnover. It is also one of the biggest metal festivals in Europe and the biggest to exist in France. It originated in another music festival, the Fury Fest, held from 2002 to 2005, in different areas of Pays de la Loire.
