Douglas Cagas
Douglas "Dodo" Ralota Cagas (December 3, 1943 – June 10, 2021) was a Filipino politician and a representative of the Legislative districts of Davao del Sur, first district of the Philippine province of Davao del Sur. He later served as governor of Davao del Sur from 2007 to 2013 and again from 2016 until his death. Biography A member of the well-known Cagas clan, Cagas was an important and controversial personality within the Mindanao political movement. He began his political career in the early 1980s as a member of the Regular National Assembly of his province, and then became a member of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, House of Representatives between 1998 and 2007. At the end of his term as representative, he was elected governor of Davao del Sur, a position he held until 2013 and again from 2016 until his death. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. In January 2020, the disease spread worldwide, resulting in the COVID-19 pandemic. Leila Norma Eulalia Josefa Magistrado de Lima (born August 27, 1959) is a Filipino politician, lawyer, human rights activist and law professor who is the representative-elect for Mamamayang Liberal, the sectoral wing of the Liberal Party. De Lima previously served as a senator of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022 and as secretary of justice from 2010 to 2015. The legislative districts of Davao del Sur are the representations of the province of Davao del Sur in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The province is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its lone congressional district. Davao City and Davao Occidental last formed part of the province's representation in 1972 and 2016, respectively. The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP, ) is a populist political party in the Philippines founded in 1982. It was previously known as Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP–Laban) from 1983 to 2024 as a result of a merger with Lakas ng Bayan (Laban).
