	Albrecht Dold Albrecht Dold (5 August 1928 – 26 September 2011) was a German mathematician specializing in algebraic topology who proved the Dold–Thom theorem, the Dold–Kan correspondence, and introduced Dold manifolds, Dold–Puppe stabilization, and Dold fibrations. Life Albrecht Dold was born in Triberg, and studied mathematics and physics at Heidelberg University, earning a Ph.D. degree in 1954 under the direction of Herbert Seifert. He visited the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton in 1956–58, and taught at Columbia University in 1960–62 and at the University of Zürich in 1962–63. In 1963 he returned to Heidelberg, where he stayed most of his career, till his retirement in 1996. Dold's work in algebraic topology, in particular, his work on Fixed-point theorem, fixed-point theory has made him known in economics as well as mathematics. 	Erwin Dold Erwin Dold (16 November 1919, in Wagensteig, part of the community of Buchenbach – 11 September 2012, in Buchenbach) was a fighter pilot in the Luftwaffe, despite the fact that he was not a Nazi Party member, then sergeant-major in the Luftwaffe ground staff, Commandant of the Concentration Camp Dautmergen, and director of the lumber company Dold Holzwerke in Buchenbach. Early life Dold was born in Wagensteig in the Black Forest region of southern Germany in 1919 and was connected to his family's lumber mill from his earliest years. The outbreak of World War II prevented him from officially joining the company and instead he was trained as a fighter pilot in the German air force, seeing action in France, Romania and Russia before being shot down over Crimea. Biography He studied medicine at the University of Tübingen and the University of Berlin, and earned his doctorate in medicine in 1906. From 1908, he served as Demonstrator of Bacteriology and Comparative Pathology at the Royal Institute of Public Health in London, before he was employed by the Imperial Health Office in Berlin in 1910. 	Thomas Dold __NOTOC__ Thomas Dold (born September 10, 1984, in Wolfach, Baden-Württemberg) is a German track and field and extreme athlete and a tower runner, stair runner, world-record holding champion backwards runner. Dold has competed a number of times in the most prestigious tower run of the world, the Empire State Building Run Up in New York. He first participated in 2005 and finished second.
