Dockerty Cup
The Dockerty Cup is an annual association football single-elimination tournament, knock-out competition open to all Victorian clubs across the Australian soccer league system, Victorian football league system. The tournament is named after the former president of Football Federation Victoria Harry Dockerty. Since 2014 the Cup is also a qualifying competition for the FFA Cup, now known as the Australia Cup, where the four finalists enter the competition proper at the round of 32. The Dockerty cup winner also qualifies to the next season's FV Community Shield, in a one-off match against the current NPL Victoria champion. Football Victoria is the state governing body for soccer in Victoria, Australia. It is affiliated with Football Australia, the sport's national governing body. History Football Victoria began operation in 1884 under the name Anglo Australian Football Association of Victoria and is one of the oldest sporting associations in Victoria. Carlton United FC
Carlton United Football Club was an Australian association football (soccer) club based in Melbourne, founded in 1908 that presumably dissolved in late 1912. The short lived club is known for its immediate success in being the first tier one state champions of Victoria, and winning the first Dockerty Cup, both in 1909. The club would also be the first in history to go back-to-back in repeating the same feat in 1910 for both the league and the cup. The club would finish second in 1911 and third in 1912 and presumably folded prior to the 1913 season. The National Premier Leagues (NPL) is a men's national association football competition in Australia which acts as the second tier of the sport in the country below the A-League. The NPL consists of the highest level state league in each state-based federation within Australia. A-League Men, also known as the Isuzu UTE A-League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional soccer league in Australia and New Zealand and the highest level of the Australian soccer league system. Established in 2004 as the A-League by the Australian Soccer Association (ASA) as a successor to the National Soccer League (NSL), competition commenced in August 2005. Administered by Australian Professional Leagues (APL), it is contested by thirteen teams; eleven based in Australia with two in New Zealand. Melbourne City Football Club Youth is the youth system of Melbourne City Football Club based in Cranbourne East, Melbourne. The youth teams consist of an under-23s team that competes in senior levels of soccer in Victoria; currently the Victorian Premier League 1, and a development squad of an under-21s team that competes in the under-23 levels of soccer in Victoria.
