"Do You Want To" is the lead single from Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand's second studio album, '' You Could Have It So Much Better'' (2005). It was released 19 September 2005 and charted at number four on the UK Singles Chart. In the United States, the song peaked at number nine on the ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart and number 76 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. In February 2006, the single was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Franz Ferdinand (band)
Franz Ferdinand are a Scottish Rock music, rock band formed in Glasgow in 2002. Their original line-up was composed of Alex Kapranos (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Nick McCarthy (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Bob Hardy (bassist), Bob Hardy (bass, percussion) and Paul Thomson (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Julian Corrie (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals) and Dino Bardot (guitar, backing vocals) joined the band in 2017 after McCarthy left during the previous year, and Audrey Tait (drums, percussion) joined the band after Thomson left in 2021. The 2005 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on 26 January 2006. It was the thirteenth such countdown of the most popular songs of the year, according to listeners of the Australian radio station Triple J. The broadcast began at 10am AEDT and finished a little before 7pm when the top song was announced. Broadcast live from the Sydney Big Day Out from 12pm AEDT, it regularly crossed to winning artists and listeners around Australia. Voters were limited to 20 votes each – 10 via SMS (charged at 30c per message) and 10 via the Internet (at no charge). Wolfmother had the most entries in the countdown with six, at that point the most by an artist in a single countdown. Triple J is an Australian government-funded national radio station founded in 1975 as a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). It aims to appeal to young listeners of alternative music, and plays far more Australian content than commercial networks. The station was set up under the Gough Whitlam government, wanting to extend the appeal of the ABC to young Australians. Initially broadcasting as 2JJ or Double Jay from 19 January 1975, it stood apart from commercial stations with its lack of private advertising and its fringe music programming.
