Royal Commonwealth Pool
The Royal Commonwealth Pool is a category-A-listed building in St Leonard's, Edinburgh, Scotland that houses one of Scotland's main swimming pools. It is usually referred to simply as the Commonwealth Pool and known colloquially as the 'Commie'. History The pool was commissioned by the Council under a plan by the then Lord Provost, Sir Herbert Archbold Brechin in 1966 as part of a wider project to bring the Commonwealth Games to Edinburgh. This, with the help of other committee members such as Sir John Inch, came to fruition in October 1969. Construction began in 1967 and was completed in October 1969. The architecture was by Robert Matthew Johnson Marshall with structural input from Ove Arup & Partners. The pool has been used for elite diving events including the 1986 Commonwealth Games hosted by Edinburgh and the 2014 Commonwealth Games and inaugural 2018 European Championships, both hosted in Glasgow. James Heatly
James Philip Heatly (born 20 May 1997) is a British diver. Career In 2015, at the inaugural European Games held in Baku where the diving events are for juniors only, he won a gold in the 3 metre springboard, a bronze in the 1 metre springboard, as well as a silver in the men's synchronised 3 metre springboard with Ross Haslam. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games he won bronze in the 1m springboard event, becoming only the second Scottish diver to win a diving medal after his grandfather Sir Peter Heatly won gold in 1958. At the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow/Edinburgh, Heatly won a bronze in the men's 1 metre springboard. At the 2019 European Diving Championships held in Kyiv, Heatly won bronze in the Men's 3m springboard. At the 2021 FINA Diving World Cup held in Japan as an official test event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Heatly won silver in the Men's 3m springboard event. Ellen Ek (born 4 July 1997) is a Swedish diver. She competed in the women's 10 metre platform event at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships The 2019 World Aquatics Championships were the 18th FINA World Aquatics Championships, held in Gwangju, South Korea from 12 to 28 July 2019. The city had previously hosted the 2015 Summer Universiade aquatics events in the same venues.

Noemi Batki (born 12 October 1987) is a Hungarian-born Italian former diver. She was a member of the Italian National Diving Team at four Olympic Games and was a member of the sports section of the Italian Army, Centro Sportivo Esercito, and Triestina Nuoto. Career Batki was born in Budapest, Hungary. Her mother Ibolya Nagy was a Hungarian platform diver who took part in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. At the age of 3 Batki moved to Belluno, Italy. In 2004, Batki won her first medals at the Junior European Championships in Aachen, Germany. Robyn Birch (born 10 January 1994) is a British diver. She has won a silver in synchronized 10 metre platform at the European Diving Championships. Career Birch initially competed as a gymnast, and has competed in European and World Gymnastic Championships, but in 2011 she switched to diving. She partnered with Georgia Ward in the 10m synchro event at the 2015 European Diving Championships held in Rostok, and won a silver. They also won a bronze in 10m synchro at the third FINA Diving Grand Prix event held in Gatineau, Canada that year. Birch competed in the women's 10 metre platform event at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships held in Gwangju, South Korea. 2018 European Aquatics Championships
The 2018 European Aquatics Championships took place in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Luss in the central belt of Scotland, from 3 to 12 August 2018. The championships were part of the first European Championships with other events happening in Scotland and Berlin. Venue The Tollcross International Swimming Centre hosted the swimming events with the diving being hosted by the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh. The open water swimming competition took place at Loch Lomond, while Scotstoun Sports Campus hosted the synchronised swimming events. Oleh Kolodiy (; born 16 March 1993) is a Ukrainian diver. Career He began diving at age 12 in Mykolaiv. His coach is Larisa Afanasyeva since then. He debuted internationally in 2012 at FINA Diving Grand Prix. He is also a multiple European championships medalist: in 2013 he won bronze in 3m synchro diving with Oleksandr Gorshkovozov and in 2015 he won bronze in 1m springboard.
