Dink (band)
Dink (styled DINK), was an alternative/industrial rock band formed in Kent, Ohio in 1992. The band combined elements of industrial, Hip Hop (rapped vocals and extensive use of samples), hard rock, and electronic dance. Dink's members included Sean Carlin (guitar, vocals, programming), Rob Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Jer Herring (guitar, vocals), Jeff Finn (bass), and Jan Eddy Van Der Kuil (drums). History Dink initially released 3 EPs in the early 1990s. These EPs were exclusively printed on cassettes. The band eventually released one self-titled album, also mostly self-produced, in 1994 on Capitol Records. The release peaked at #31 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. It featured one song produced by Skinny Puppy's Dave "Rave" Ogilvie (although he also mixed 8 out of the 10 songs). "DINK" is an acronym that stands for "double income, no kids" or "dual income, no kids". It describes a couple without children living together while both partners are receiving an income; because both of their wages are coming into the same household, they are free to live more comfortably than couples who live together and spend their money on raising their children. The term was coined at the height of yuppie culture in the 1980s. The Great Recession solidified this social trend, as more couples waited longer to have children or chose not to have children at all. ''Fear'' is a 1996 American psychological thriller film directed by James Foley and written by Christopher Crowe. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Reese Witherspoon, William Petersen, Alyssa Milano and Amy Brenneman. Neil Percival Young (born November 12, 1945) is a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. Compulsion (band)
Compulsion were an Irish punk band. They were formed in 1990 by Josephmary (singer) and Sid Rainey (bassist) as Thee Amazing Colossal Men. They signed a recording contract with Virgin Records, but after winning a lawsuit against their record label, they became 'Compulsion' in 1992. Joined by guitarist Garret Lee and drummer Jan-Willem Alkema, they moved to North London and signed to One Little Indian. They released several EPs and two albums. The first, ''Comforter'', was labeled by the ''NME'' as part of the " New Wave of New Wave", while the second, ''The Future is Medium'', saw them sport identical black outfits and orange hairdos. The group split in 1997 after the label One Little Indian dropped them. After Compulsion, Lee formed Jacknife Lee, and later produced Snow Patrol and U2. Lords of Acid is a Belgian/American electronic dance music (EDM) group led by musician Praga Khan. They are best known for making songs with sexual lyrics and sexually explicit tracks, such as their hit "Pussy". History Lords of Acid debuted with the new beat single "I Sit on Acid" in 1988. Pop Will Eat Itself are an English alternative rock band formed in 1986 in Stourbridge in the West Midlands of England with members from Birmingham, Coventry and the Black Country. Initially known as a grebo act, they changed style to incorporate sample-driven indie and industrial rock. Graham Crabb describes their sound as "electronic, punk, alternative hip-hop, hybrid music for fucking, fighting & smoking cigars".
