Compulsion (band)
Compulsion were an Irish punk band. They were formed in 1990 by Josephmary (singer) and Sid Rainey (bassist) as Thee Amazing Colossal Men. They signed a recording contract with Virgin Records, but after winning a lawsuit against their record label, they became 'Compulsion' in 1992. Joined by guitarist Garret Lee and drummer Jan-Willem Alkema, they moved to North London and signed to One Little Indian. They released several EPs and two albums. The first, ''Comforter'', was labeled by the ''NME'' as part of the " New Wave of New Wave", while the second, ''The Future is Medium'', saw them sport identical black outfits and orange hairdos. The group split in 1997 after the label One Little Indian dropped them. After Compulsion, Lee formed Jacknife Lee, and later produced Snow Patrol and U2. Alkema joined China Drum and later Driven to Collision. Rainey is now a writer and has created and produced an animated children's TV series called ''Underground Ernie'' for the BBC. J ... An extended play (EP) is a Sound recording and reproduction, musical recording that contains more tracks than a Single (music), single but fewer than an album. The Future Is Medium
''The Future Is Medium'' is the second studio album by Irish rock band Compulsion, released on 27 May 1996. It was produced by Mark Freegard and Garret Lee; Freegard handled recording (with engineer Darren Mahomed) and mixing (engineer Steven Cook). The band promoted the album with a UK tour in June and July 1996 with Evil Superstars. Reception AllMusic reviewer Jack Rabid wrote that while ''The Future Is Medium'' was not as "heavy, proud, and mighty as Comforter," the former was "just as edgy and takes more chances". Marcus Schleutermann of ''Rock Hard'' wrote that the punk boom would end that summer but Compulsion would remain due to having "enough identity of their own to be able to survive in the long term". He explained that the tracks had "plenty of nooks and crannies without affecting their accessibility". Comforter (album)
A comforter (in American English), also known as a doona in Australian English, or a continental quilt (or simply quilt) or duvet in British English, is a type of bedding made of two lengths of fabric or covering sewn together and filled with insulative materials for warmth, traditionally down or feathers, wool or cotton batting, silk, or polyester and other down alternative fibers. Like quilts, comforters are generally laid over a top bed sheet (and sometimes also blankets) and used to cover the body during sleep. Duvets are another form of quilt, traditionally filled with feathers, though since the late 20th century often made of synthetic fibres or down alternatives. A comforter is sometimes covered for protection and prolonged use. Comforter covers are similar in principle to pillowcases, usually closed with zippers or buttons. ''Underground Ernie'' is a 2006 British animation, British-animated children's television series produced by Joella Productions for the BBC on both CBeebies and BBC Two, and sold internationally by BBC Worldwide. Snow Patrol
Snow Patrol are a Northern Irish–Scottish Rock music, rock band formed in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland, consisting of Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Nathan Connolly (guitar, backing vocals), and Johnny McDaid (piano, guitar, keyboards, backing vocals); Lightbody is the band's sole remaining original member.
