Digital Image Design
Digital Image Design (DID) was a British video game developer founded by Martin Kenwright and Phillip Allsopp in 1989. It was originally based in Runcorn, Cheshire in England. The company specialized in aircraft simulator games, mostly published by Ocean Software. DID expanded following the release of '' TFX'', '' Inferno'', and ''EF2000'', and subsequently moved offices to Warrington. During this period, the technology from one of its products was spun off into a military laser designation simulator and they would also produce professional flight simulators for customers such as the Royal Air Force and British Airways. After being taken over by Infogrames, key members of staff including Kenwright and Mick Hocking left to form Evolution Studios together with Ian Hetherington from Psygnosis. Rage Games Limited
Rage Games (formerly Rage Software) was a British video game developer. Formed in Liverpool in 1992, its video games were marked by an emphasis on graphical effects with arcade gameplay. Rage's first title '' Striker'' sold more than one million copies throughout its two-year life cycle and established Rage as a major creative force in the interactive entertainment industry. The company went through rapid expansion in the 1990s and partnered with multiple third party software publishers for distribution of its titles. ''Eurofighter Typhoon'' is a combat flight simulator published by Rage Software in 2001. The game models the jet fighter Eurofighter Typhoon. Digital Image Design was in process of developing the game as successor to '' F-22 Total Air War'' when the company was bought by Rage Software. An extended version of the game with an additional campaign, ''Eurofighter Typhoon: Operation Icebreaker'', was released in 2002. Gameplay The story of the game posits Russia quickly invading the eastern countries of Europe. Iceland is the next one on the list, as NATO has abandoned the country in an attempt to protect the Western countries of Europe. The ICEFOR is outnumbered, but is able to deploy a small number of the new Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to turn the tide of the war. ''TFX'' is a 1993 combat flight simulator video game developed by Digital Image Design and published by Ocean Software that was released for DOS and Amiga computers. Gameplay The game features an instant-action arcade mode, custom missions, and a campaign mode. The player can fly three aircraft: The Eurofighter Typhoon, the F-22 and the F-117, and can customize payload for each aircraft. The campaign mode takes place in three theatres - Colombia, Somalia, Libya, the Balkans, and the South Georgia Islands. "TFX" stands for Tactical Fighter E(X)periment.
