Dick Shoulberg
Dick Shoulberg was an American Hall of Fame club, Prep School, and U.S. Olympic swim coach best known for coaching swimming at Pennsylvania's Germantown Academy in Fort Washington. From 1969 to 2015, he led the Germantown Academy men's team to two National Prep School Championships, and the Women's team to five women's Prep School Championships. He also coached and founded the prestigious Germantown Academy Aquatic age group team which merged with the Foxcatcher Swim Club from 1985-2000. Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, in Norriton township outside Philadelphia, Shoulberg swam for Norristown High School where he graduated and then did a year of additional studies at Malvern Preparatory School. Norristown is a municipality with home rule status and the county seat of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States, in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Sean Killion
Sean Thomas Killion (born October 24, 1967) is an American former competition swimmer and Pan American Games gold medalist, who represented the United States at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Killion was born in Camden, New Jersey, and spent his early years training at Jersey Wahoos, a club located in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Growing up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Killion swam at Cherry Hill High School East, setting New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association records that have stood for as long as 30 years before he graduated in 1986. He was a surprise gold medalist in the 1986 Goodwill Games, defeating world record and Olympic gold medalist Vladimir Salnikov, outtouching him at the wall. David Lee "Dave" Wharton (born May 19, 1969) is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic medalist, and former world record-holder in two events. During his competition swimming career, Wharton set world records in both the 200-meter and 400-meter individual medley events. Swimming career Wharton achieved his first recognition in international swimming as an 18-year-old at the 1987 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Brisbane, Australia, where he won gold medals in both the 200- and 400-meter individual medley events. Susan Helen Heon (born May 31, 1962), later known by her married name Susan Preston, is an American former competition swimmer who swam for the University of Pittsburgh receiving All America Honors all four years of her college elgibility and setting seven school records. She qualified for the 1980 U.S. Olympic team, but was unable to attend the Moscow Olympics due to the U.S. boycott. She represented the United States at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, placing fourth in the finals of the 400-meter Individual Medley. Erika Hansen
Erika Marie Hansen (born March 9, 1970) is an American former competition swimmer and Pan Pacific Championships champion who represented the United States at the 1988 Summer Olympics and 1992 Summer Olympics. Pan Pacifics Hansen won a gold medal in the 400-meter individual medley at the 1985 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. Katrina Diane Radke Gerry (born December 17, 1970) is a former competitive swimmer who represented the United States at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Early life and career Radke was born December 17, 1970. She was raised in Morris, Minnesota. At the age of 13, she and her family moved to Emmaus, Pennsylvania. By the time she was 14, she landed a spot on the U.S. National Swim Team and was its youngest member. Radke won gold medals at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in 1985 and 1987 as part of the 800-meter (4 × 200 m) Freestyle Relay Team. Daniel Ploug Jorgensen (born April 4, 1968) is an American former competition swimmer who represented the United States at two consecutive Olympic Games. Career At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, he earned a gold medal by swimming for the winning U.S. team in the men's 4×200-meter freestyle relay. Individually, he also competed in the B Final of the men's 400-meter freestyle and finished fourteenth overall (3:55.34). Four years later at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, Jorgensen again swam in the preliminary heats of the men's 4×200-meter freestyle relay, and received a bronze medal when the U.S. team placed third in the event final. David Charles "Dave" Berkoff (born November 30, 1966) is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic champion, and former world record-holder in two events. Berkoff was a backstroke specialist who won a total of four Olympic medals during his career at two different Olympic Games. He is best known for his powerful underwater start, the eponymous "Berkoff Blastoff". Germantown Academy
Germantown Academy, informally known as GA and originally known as the Union School, is the oldest nonsectarian day school in the United States. The school was founded on December 6, 1759, by a group of prominent Germantown citizens in the Green Tree Tavern on the Germantown Road. Germantown Academy enrolls students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade and is located in the Philadelphia suburb of Fort Washington, having moved from its original Germantown campus in 1965.
