Derek W. Murphy (born December 29, 1968), better known as Sadat X, is an American rapper, best known as a member of alternative hip hop group Brand Nubian. Originally known as Derek X, Sadat takes his name from former Egyptian president Anwar Sadat. Early life Sadat X was born in the Bronx, New York City. He and DJ Alamo are childhood friends who grew up together in the Bronx, where Sadat and his family lived at Concourse Village. Sadat's father and Alamo's father knew each other and grew up together in Harlem, New York City at Lincoln Projects. At age 11, he and his parents moved to New Rochelle where he met future Brand Nubian bandmates Grand Puba and Lord Jamar. He first started rapping after his father brought him a turntable to DJ. Rozell Manely Brown (born October 6, 1964) is an American beatboxer and rapper, formerly a member of the Roots. Rahzel is known for an ability to sing or rap while simultaneously beatboxing, as evidenced in his performances of "Iron Man" and his signature song "If Your Mother Only Knew", a hidden track on ''Make the Music 2000''. His talents are showcased in various solo projects as well as on Ben Harper's 2000 single " Steal My Kisses." Alternative Hip Hop
Alternative hip-hop (also known as alternative rap and experimental hip-hop) is a subgenre of hip-hop music that encompasses a wide range of styles that are not typically identified as mainstream. AllMusic defines it as comprising "hip-hop groups that refuse to conform to any of the traditional stereotypes of rap, such as gangsta, bass, hardcore, and party rap. Rapping (also rhyming, flowing, spitting, emceeing, or MCing) is an artistic form of vocal delivery and emotive expression that incorporates " rhyme, rhythmic speech, and ommonlystreet vernacular". Sagat is an American rapper. He also works as a producer under the alias Jump Chico Slamm (or Jump "Chico" Slamm). He had a major hit in 1994 with "Why Is It? (Funk Dat)". He then produced a follow-up single, "Luvstuff". These songs charted at Christmas time on the UK Singles Chart in 1993 and 1994. House Of Pain
House of Pain was an American hip hop trio that released three albums in the 1990s. The group consisted of DJ Lethal, Danny Boy, and Everlast. They are best known for their 1992 hit single " Jump Around", which reached number 3 in their native United States of America, number 6 in Ireland and number 8 in the United Kingdom. The group broke up in 1996. Lead rapper Everlast went on to pursue a solo career as a blues rock artist and member of the supergroup La Coka Nostra which also featured DJ Lethal.
