Der Kleine Song Contest
() was a one-off music competition in the Eurovision format, organised and broadcast by the Austrian broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF). It served as an alternative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, which was planned to be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition consisted of three semi-finals between 14 and 18 April 2020 and a final on 18 April 2020, and was hosted by Andi Knoll. All shows were broadcast on the television channel ORF 1, as well as on the streaming platform ORF-TVthek. Format In each semi-final, the music videos (or national final performances) of 13 or 14 entries that would have taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 were shown. Simone Stelzer (born 1 October 1969) is an Austrian pop singer.Austrian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. Her song "Keine Mauern mehr" was initially placed second, however, several days after the final it was discovered that winning song "Das Beste" performed by Duett (band), Duett had participated in a Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1988, German national final in 1988. Duett were therefore disqualified and Simone was announced as the Austrian Eurovision entrant. "Keine Mauern mehr" was placed tenth in the Eurovision Song Contest in Zagreb. Austria In The Eurovision Song Contest 2014
Austria participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Rise Like a Phoenix", written by Charlie Mason, Joey Patulka, Ali Zuckowski and Julian Maas. The song was performed by Conchita Wurst, the drag stage persona of Tom Neuwirth, who had risen to fame after taking part in an Austrian talent show in 2011 and attempting to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Conchita Wurst
Thomas Neuwirth (born 6 November 1988) is an Austrian singer and drag queen who is known for his stage persona Conchita Wurst (or simply Conchita). Neuwirth came to international attention after winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 as with the song " Rise Like a Phoenix". Neuwirth has stated that he is not a trans woman. He is gay, and has also described himself as a drag queen. He uses she/her pronouns to describe his Conchita Wurst character, but he/him pronouns when referring to himself. Nadine Beiler (born 27 May 1990) is an Austrian R&B and pop singer, who won the third season of the Austrian casting show '' Starmania'' in 2007. On 16 February 2007, she released her first single, " Alles was du willst". Currently, Beiler is a professional singer and songwriter based in both Vienna and Tyrol, where she lives in Innsbruck. Alf Poier (born 22 February 1967 in Judenburg, Styria) is an Austrian artist and stand-up comedian. Biography Born in Judenburg in Styria, he started doing cabaret in 1995 in Graz, and has won several prizes for his work, including the in 1998, the , , German Comedy Awards ''(Best Newcomer)'' in 2000, the Austrian in 2002 and the Austrian in 2009. In 2003, Poier participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 and secured 6th place with his entry '' Weil der Mensch zählt'' (Because humans matter). The song, and his stage act, were a parody of the contest's excesses. Manuel Ortega (singer)
Manuel Ortega (born Manuel Hanke, Steyregg, 8 April 1980) is an Austrian singer of Spanish origin. Biography The son of a Spanish mother and an Austrian father, Ortega began his career as a singer when he was 10 years old. He sang with the Florianer Sängerknaben in one of the oldest choirs from Austria. His love for pop music led to him joining a band called BAFF when he was a teenager. Starting from an early age, meant Ortega has been able to make over 200 stages performances as of 2003. When he was 17, he took part in a search for talent and was chosen out of 1300 entrants to be the singer of a new group.
