Denovali Records is an independent record label founded in 2005. The program of Denovali covers Ambient music, ambient, Electronic music, electronica, experimental music, experimental, Drone music, drone, jazz, Contemporary classical music, modern composition & sound art. Since 2007 Denovali curates and organizes international music festivals. Hidden Orchestra
Hidden Orchestra is the solo studio project of multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Joe Acheson, whose albums and live shows include guest musicians from diverse musical backgrounds. Formed in Edinburgh, the band's regular live members include Poppy Ackroyd (violin/piano) and drummers Tim Lane and Jamie Graham. Acheson records musicians individually, then combines the recordings in a studio as though the musicians were part of an orchestra. He uses field recordings, bass, drums, and percussion. Hidden Orchestra's debut album ''Night Walks'' was released in September 2010 by Tru Thoughts. It mixed elements of jazz, classical music, drum and bass, rock and hip hop. Natural sounds are combined with electronic effects. BBC Radio 1 chose ''Night Walks'' as Album of the Month. In January 2011 a vinyl deluxe version was published by Denovali. A Dead Forest Index is a musical project formed by brothers Adam Sherry and Sam Sherry in 2008 in Melbourne, Australia. History Adam and Sam Sherry are originally from New Zealand, writing and performing as a minimalist two-piece, based between Melbourne and London. In 2012, A Dead Forest Index released an EP entitled ''Antique'' with Denovali Records and in 2013 the duo were invited to support the band Savages on a UK tour. Thomas Köner
Thomas Köner (born 1965 in Bochum, West Germany) is a multimedia artist whose main interest lies in combining visual and auditory experiences. The BBC, in a review of Köner's work in 1997, calls him a "media artist," one who works between installation art, installation, sound art, ambient music and as one half of Porter Ricks dub techno. A noted characteristics of Köner's dark ambient style are low drones and static soundscapes evocative of desolate, Arctic places. For his audio-visual works, he was awarded Golden Nica Award, Golden Nica at Prix Ars Electronica in Linz, Transmediale Award, Tiger Cub Award at International Film Festival Rotterdam, ARCO Award Best Young Artist in Madrid, among others. The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation is a side project of the members of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble founded in Utrecht in 2007. History The idea for this project was born when the musicians of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble wanted to dedicate themselves completely to improvised music with a side project. Initially, there was no intention to release any records. However, early performances of the group were already documented, so that a performance on February 24, 2007 at the Amsterdam Overtoom 301 in June of the same year was released as the first album Doomjazz Future Corpses! via Ad Noiseam. In the following years the group performed internationally and documented various performances as further publications in different formations. The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble is a Dutch band formed in Utrecht, Netherlands, in 1999. The group is composed of Jason Köhnen, Gideon Kiers, trombonist Hilary Jeffery, cellist Nina Hitz, singer Charlotte Cegarra, guitarist Eelco Bosman, and violinist Sadie Anderson. Its live counterpart is The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation. History Köhnen and Kiers initially formed the group, often abbreviated as TKDE, in 1999 as a project for scoring silent movies such as ''Nosferatu'' and ''Metropolis''. Köhnen and Kiers knew each other from studying at the Utrecht School of Arts. The hitherto electronic project was altered in 2004 when British trombonist Jeffery and Swiss cellist Hitz joined. Romke Kleefstra is a musician from the Netherlands. Currently he is a member of Transtilla, Piiptsjilling and The Alvaret Ensemble. Biography Romke Kleefstra was born on 28 July 1972 in Akkrum, Netherlands. Ben Chatwin is an English musician who resides in Scotland. He previously performed under the name Talvihorros. He has released two albums, under his own name and five as Talvihorros. His most recent'', Heat & Entropy'' (2016) appeared on Ba Da Bing Records while his previous outings appeared on Denovali and Hibernate Records. He has performed live globally. Besides his own work, Chatwin does bespoke music for adverts such as Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Tate Modern and Volkswagen. Career Chatwin was born in Portsmouth and began to explore music as a teenager.
