Denis Daly (hurler)
Denis Daly (6 November 1876 – 2 March 1947) was an Irish hurler who played for Cork Championship club Shanballymore. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for one season during which time he usually lined out at midfield. Playing career Shanballymore Daly joined the Shanballymore club at an early age and eventually became one of the stalwarts of the club. On 3 May 1903, he captained the Shanballymore senior team that were defeated by Dungourney in the delayed 1902 Cork Championship final. Cork Daly made his first appearance for the Cork senior hurling team on 31 August 1902 in a 3-12 to 1-04 defeat of Kerry. On 26 April 1903, he won a Munster Championship medal following a 3-10 to 2-06 defeat of Clare in the final. Daly was at centre-field when Cork suffered a 1-05 to 0-04 defeat by London in the delayed 1901 All-Ireland final on 2 August 1903. Shanballymore GAA
Shanballymore GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club, based in the village of Shanballymore, located in the northern part of County Cork, Ireland. The club fields both Gaelic football and hurling teams. It is a member of the Avondhu division of Cork GAA. History The club has been in existence since the 1880s. The club has been primarily a hurling club, but it has played Gaelic football also, though with less success. Records indicate that there was a senior football team in Shanballymore in 1894 but all traces of a team was lost up to the 1940s when a team called Brian Boru's was fielded. The club was reformed in 1958 and played with little success until 1980 when we won the Avondhu Junior B double – championship and league,. Kerry GAA
The Kerry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kerry GAA, is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland. The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1901 was the 15th series of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, Ireland's premier hurling knock-out competition. London won the championship, beating Cork 1–5 to 0–4 in the final. The London County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Londain) or London GAA is one of the county boards outside Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in London. The county board is also responsible for the London county teams and schools. The county football team compete in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship on an annual basis, the only English based team to do so. Munster Senior Hurling Championship
The Munster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year since the 1888 championship. The final, usually held on the first Sunday in July, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Mick Mackey Cup. The 1902 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 16th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. Redmonds were the defending champions. Dungourney GAA
Dungourney GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Dungourney, County Cork, Ireland. The club fields teams in both Gaelic football and hurling. It is a member of the Imokilly division of Cork GAA. The club was one of the strongest clubs in the Cork during the first decade of the 20th century. Its 3 Cork Senior Hurling Championship titles were the most by a club outside Cork City for many years. The best known player is Jamesy Kelleher who was included on Cork's Hurling Team of the Century. In 1902, the club represented Cork in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. This resulted in the club winning the All-Ireland hurling title.
