Deep Sea Warrior (bathyscaphe)
Deep Sea Warrior (Shen-Hai-Yong-Shi, or 深海勇士 in Chinese) bathyscaphe is a type of very little known deep-submergence vehicle built in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Deep Sea Warrier was handed over from its builder China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation to its customer at the end of 2016, but actual deep diving did not begun until end of the following year due to preparation needed, because it was such as new product that thorough preparation was needed to ensure its safe operation, and bathyscaphye is capable of diving to a depth of 4500 meters. In comparison to earlier Jiaolong where half of the components and technologies must be purchased abroad from foreign suppliers, 95% of technology and components of Deep Sea Warrier are domestically built and developed in China, with major subsystems including crew compartment, buoyancy material, lithium battery, propulsion system, deep water pump, mechanical arm, hydraulic system, acoustic communication system, control s ...

Deep-submergence Vehicle
A deep-submergence vehicle (DSV) is a deep-diving crewed submersible that is self-propelled. Several navies operate vehicles that can be accurately described as DSVs. DSVs are commonly divided into two types: research DSVs, which are used for exploration and surveying, and DSRVs (Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle), which can be used for rescuing the crew of a sunken navy submarine, clandestine (espionage) missions (primarily installing wiretaps on undersea communications cables), or both. DSRVs are equipped with docking chambers to allow personnel ingress and egress via a manhole. The real-life feasibility of any DSRV-based rescue attempt is hotly debated, because the few available docking chambers of a stricken submarine may be flooded, trapping the sailors still alive in other dry compartments. The only attempt to rescue a stricken submarine with these so far (the Russian submarine ''Kursk'') ended in failure as the entire crew who survived the explosion had either suffocated ...

Rainbowfish-class Bathyscaphe
The Rainbowfish class bathyscaphe is a Chinese deep submergence vehicle under development in 2015 and originally scheduled to enter service in 2019, but has since been postponed after 2020. Rainbowfish bathyscaphe Rainbowfish bathyscaphe is a second generation bathyscaphe designed to be able to dive to a depth of 11 km, effectively covering 100% of the oceanic floor. The general designer is Mr. Cui Weicheng (崔维成), who was the first deputy general designer of the first generation bathyscaphes Sea Pole and Jiaolong. Unlike other Chinese deep submergence vehicles developed earlier, the Rainbowfish was developed under a new business model, raising capital from private enterprise. To maximize efficiency after its completion, Rainbowfish-class bathyscaphe is designed to operate in conjunction with unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) and benthic landers that are capable of operating at the same depth of the bathyscaphe, with all vehicles are developed by the same company, and a ...

Priz-class Deep-submergence Rescue Vehicle
The Priz class (Project 1855) is a type of Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV) operated by the government of Russia. There are known to be at least five vessels of the class, several of which were involved in the failed rescue attempt when the ''Kursk'' sank on 12 August 2000. The Russian word "Priz" (“приз”) means "prize". Specifications The titanium hulled vessels are 13.5 m long, 3.8 m wide and 4.6 m high, with a displacement of 55 tonnes. Capable of operating at depths up to 1000 metres, they have a range of , at a top speed of 3.3 knots (6 km/h). With a crew of four, they can stay submerged for up to 120 hours, but with the crew and a full complement of 20 passengers aboard this is reduced to 10 hours. The Priz vessels are equipped with manipulators that can lift up to 50 kg. According to a report on Russian television (Vesti, on Rossiya channel, August 7, 2005), the Project 1855 Priz vessel was designed by the Lazurit Design Bureau of Nizhny Novgorod, and ...

Pisces V
''Pisces V'' is a type of manned submersible ocean exploration device, powered by battery, and capable of operating to depths of , a depth that is optimum for use in the sea waters around the Hawaiian Islands. It is used by scientists to explore the deep sea around the underwater banks in the main Hawaiian Islands, as well as the underwater features and seamounts in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, specifically around Kamaʻehuakanaloa Seamount (formerly Loihi). In 1973, ''Pisces V'' took part in the rescue of Roger Mallinson and Roger Chapman, who were trapped on the seabed in ''Pisces V''s sister submersible '' Pisces III''. In August 2002, ''Pisces V'' and her sister ''Pisces IV'' discovered a World War II Japanese midget submarine outside of Pearl Harbor which had been sunk by the destroyer in the first American shots fired in World War II. In 2011, marine scientists from HURL celebrated the 1,000 dives of ''Pisces V'' and ''Pisces IV''. Uses The advantage of having ...

Pisces IV
''Pisces IV'' is a three-person, battery-powered deep-submergence vehicle (or DSV), with a maximum operating depth of . The craft was built by Hyco International Hydrodynamics in Vancouver, and is currently owned by the Hawaii Undersea Research Laboratory arm of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. It and its sister, '' Pisces V'', are Pisces class submersibles used by the NOAA for oceanic exploration. ''Pisces IV'' was constructed in 1973 and immediately placed in the service of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans of Canada. The DSV was used by the Institute of Ocean Sciences and operated at different times in the Atlantic, Arctic, and Pacific oceans. After over 1886 dives, budget cuts forced the cancellation of support for the project. ''Pisces IV'' has since been replaced in that role by ''ROPOS''. More recently, after transfer to the US, ''Pisces IV'' was certified for use by the American Bureau of Shipping in 2000, and underwent modernization and upgra ...

Konsul-class Submersible
Consul-class DSV (project 1681x) is a class of two deep submergence vehicles, built and operated by the Russian Navy. Conceived in the late 80s, they are a military counterpart to the better known strictly civilian Mir submersibles and are operated by the Navy's Main Underwater Research Directorate. The first ship in the class, AS-37 ''Rus'', is built to the original project 18610, while the second one, AS-39 ''Consul'', is of the updated project 16811 design, though ''Rus'' was later upgraded to the pr. 16811 specs. Project History Soviet Navy issued the technical requirements for the military DSV back in 1984, and the design was assigned to the Malakhit design bureau, one of the leading Soviet submarine specialists, with the final drafts for the project 16810 completed and approved by 1989. During the design process the Ministry of Geology also showed the interest in similar DSV for marine shelf geological research, so the drafts were updated to comply with civilian USSR R ...

Ictineu 3
''Ictineu 3'' is a manned submersible capable of reaching depths of 1,200 m (3,900 ft), which makes it the ninth deepest submersible, owned by ''Ictineu submarins SL''. Commissioned in 2013, the submersible can carry one pilot and two passengers during 10 hours using all the equipment. The small weight and dimensions of the submarine (4.8 x 1.9 x 3 m) allow the Ictineu 3 to be carried with a conventional truck without requiring special transportation. The main body is made of inox steel and, at the front, there is a large semi-spheric acrylic glass viewport of 1,200 mm diameter that provides a wide field of view. There are four brushless DC motors for propulsion and four more for manoeuvring, powered by li-ion batteries located outside the submersible for safety. Its applications range from submarine archaeology to industrial work, and it is specially designed to be easy to adapt it to new technology and equipment, having additional ports for wires, sensors and t ...
