''Death Drive'' is the first collaborative studio album by Sole & DJ Pain 1. It was released on June 9, 2014. It features guest appearances from Decomposure, Pedestrian, and Sean Bonnette. Sole described it as "a political rap album executed in a way that eschews the rapper persona of savior/prophet and speaks from the riot line." Critical reception Jessica Steinhoff of ''Alarm'' gave the album a favorable review, saying: "The duo examines the concept of heroism through beats and wordplay, taking aim at idols like Steve Jobs and Sigmund Freud in the process." Sole (hip Hop Artist)
James Timothy "Tim" Holland Jr. (born September 25, 1977), better known by his stage name Sole, is an American underground hip hop artist from Portland, Maine. He is one of eight co-founders of the record label Anticon. He has been a member of the groups Northern Exposure, Live Poets, Deep Puddle Dynamics, So-Called Artists, Da Babylonianz, Sole and the Skyrider Band and Waco Boyz. Career Sole recorded his first demo in 1992. At age 15, he assembled 45 Below Records, which included rappers Alias, JD Walker, and producer DJ Moodswing9 (then known as Cuz the Highlander). Sole and Moodswing9 released the album ''Mad Skillz and Unpaid Billz'' together as Northern Exposure, selling more than 300 copies. Pacal Bayley (born October 21, 1983), better known by his stage name DJ Pain 1, is an American record producer and DJ from Madison, Wisconsin. He has produced for artists including Young Jeezy, 50 Cent, Schoolboy Q, Ludacris, Lil Baby, Sarkodie, Rick Ross, Public Enemy, and Nipsey Hussle. Decomposure
Decomposure (a.k.a. ''Caleb Mueller'') is a Canadian electronic music musician. To date, he has released two full-length albums on the Unschooled Label and two on his own Blank Squirrel label, as well as being featured on multiple compilations. Mueller is also a graphic and visual artist. On Unschooled Records (2003-2007) Decomposure made his full-length debut with 2004's ''Taking Things Apart'', which featured experimental songs built from electronically deconstructed sounds culled from many disparate sources, including a Scrabble game, wooden matches, and a speech by US President George W. Bush. This was followed by the release of 2005's ''At Home and Unaffected'', which was built with sounds recorded from Decomposure's apartment and featured a new direction toward instrumentation and vocals. James Brandon Best, better known by his stage name Pedestrian, is a rapper and writer from Los Angeles. He is a co-founder of Anticon. He is also known as a preacher under the moniker Evangelist J.B. Best. History In 1998, Pedestian co-founded Anticon with other indie hip hop artists. He came up with the name; it means "anti conformity" originally, but also means "ant icon." He has written several articles about hip hop for ''East Bay Express'' from 2003 to 2004. AJJ is an American folk punk band from Phoenix, Arizona, originally formed in 2004 as Andrew Jackson Jihad. Their lyrics handle themes of shyness, poverty, humanity, religion, addiction, existentialism, and politics. Singer/guitarist Sean Bonnette and bassist Ben Gallaty are the only remaining founding members.
