The Davidson Media Group (DMG) is a Charlotte-based broadcaster specializing in multi-cultural, community focused formats. The company runs stations in a number of markets in 10 states and also specializes in selling large blocks of time on some of its stations to brokers who broadcast Spanish and/or urban contemporary gospel programs. Despite the minority-focus of DMG's market, the company itself is not minority-owned and is controlled through two private equity groups, CapStreet II LP and Citigroup Venture Capital. Felix Perez was at one time DMG's president and chief executive officer; by January 2012, Perez had been named as the general manager for Univision Radio. On February 13, 2009, SS Broadcasting Holdings (SSH) announced that it was purchasing Davidson Media Group for $1,000 cash and assumption of debt. KMNQ
KMNQ (1470 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and serving the Twin Cities radio market. The station broadcasts a Spanish AC format. The station previously was a simulcast of sister station KMNV, playing traditional Regional Mexican music. In October 2021, it began stunting with a variety format, before leaving the air entirely in early 2022. In January 2023, it returned, again simulcasting sister station KMNV. The station has experienced periods of silence over its lifetime. KMNQ's radio studios were located on 27th Avenue South and East Lake Street in Minneapolis. WTMP (1150 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Egypt Lake, Florida, and serving the Tampa Bay area, airing a sports radio format with programming from ESPN Radio. The station is owned by Neal Ardman of NIA Broadcasting, Inc. Its studios are on Howard Avenue in West Tampa. By day, WTMP is powered at 10,000 watts. To protect other stations on 1150 AM from interference at night, it greatly reduces power to 500 watts. Middletown is a town in Newport County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 17,075 at the 2020 census. WZZQ (1500 AM) is a radio station licensed to Gaffney, South Carolina. As WEAC, the station took over the former programming of sister FM WAGI in 2007. WOLT took over Gaffney High School broadcasts. Dennis Fowler, who served as Gaffney Broadcasting station manager, bought WEAC at the time Davidson Media Group bought WAGI. Unless the listener was in Cherokee County, it was nearly impossible to receive the AM broadcast, due to its low power 1,000 watt daytime only transmitter. WZZQ transmits from the original WAGI studio on Providence Road in Gaffney and broadcast in the daytime only until August 23, 2009, when the translator W282AX was added at 104.3 to add nighttime programming and a wider signal range.
