WTMP (AM)
WTMP (1150 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Egypt Lake, Florida, and serving the Tampa Bay area, airing a sports radio format with programming from ESPN Radio. The station is owned by Neal Ardman of NIA Broadcasting, Inc. Its studios are on Howard Avenue in West Tampa. By day, WTMP is powered at 10,000 watts. To protect other stations on 1150 AM from interference at night, it greatly reduces power to 500 watts. WTMP uses a directional antenna with a three-tower array, from its transmitter location on Cavacade Drive in Egypt Lake. Programming is also heard on two FM translators: W271DL on 102.1 MHz in Egypt Lake and W225CQ on 92.9 MHz in Tampa. Station history African-American voice WTMP signed on the air in December 1954. Russ Parr
Russ Parr (born 1959 in California) is an American radio DJ, film director, writer, actor and television personality known for such television shows as '' Rock 'N' America''. Career Parr began as a Production Services Director at ABC TV. Russ was the morning DJ on KDAY doing imitations of Magic Johnson, Ronald Reagan, and other celebrities. He also worked as a stand-up comic for eight years, performing his first show as an opening act for Joan Rivers in Santa Monica, California. Parr also found parts on a number of television shows including ''Martin'', '' The Jenny Jones Show'', and ''Turnstyle'', and appeared in television commercials for Kodak and McDonald's. Parr left KDAY (Hollywood) in 1989 and ended up working on KJMZ in Dallas, Texas. Before Parr began as a radio personality, however, he had a recording career under the pseudonym Bobby Jimmy. Hip Hop
Hip-hop or hip hop (originally disco rap) is a popular music genre that emerged in the early 1970s from the African-American community of New York City. WGUL (860 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a conservative talk radio format. Licensed to Dunedin, Florida, United States, it serves the Tampa Bay area. The station is owned by Salem Communications and features only syndicated conservative weekday programming from Salem Radio Network. 860 kHz is a Canadian clear-channel frequency. History WGUL previously ran a live, locally based " Music of Your Life" format from 1985 to August 12, 2005. That year, Salem Communications acquired WGUL from its previous owners, WGUL-FM, Inc., in which they changed its format to its current conservative talk format. King Coleman
Carlton "King" Coleman (January 20, 1932 – September 11, 2010) was an American rhythm and blues singer and musician, known for providing the vocals for the 1959 hit single, "(Do The) Mashed Potatoes", recorded with James Brown's band. Over the course of his singing career, Coleman released numerous singles that have been re-released on compilation albums, as well as the 2003 retrospective, ''It's Dance Time'', released by Norton Records. He performed on stage as recently as 2005 on a tour of the U.S. East Coast, backed by the Florida garage band The Creepy T's, headlining the WFMU record fair in New York City.
