David Lvovich
David Lvovich (1882-1950), known by the pseudonym Davidovich, was a Russian-Jewish politician. Lvovich was one of the main leaders of the Zionist Socialist Workers Party (SS). He was born in southern Russia. Lvovich's involvement in radical politics began in 1903, as after a visit to Minsk where he acquinted the Poalei Zion movement. He visited Palestine in 1905, and following this visit he embraced territorialism. He became a member of the SS Odessa Party Committee and led the SS Self-Defense Unit during the October 1905 pogrom. In 1907 Lvovich represented SS at the congress of the Second International in Stuttgart. In 1908 he and other SS leaders settled in Vienna, where they formed a commune of sorts (nick-named 'the hunger commune' due to their limited resources). Lvovich stayed in the United States during the First World War, but returned to Russia to contest the 1917 Russian Constituent Assembly election. Zionist Socialist Workers Party
Zionist-Socialist Workers Party (), often referred to simply as Zionist-Socialists or S.S. by their Russian initials, was a Jewish territorialist and socialist political party in the Russian Empire and Poland, that emerged from the ''Vozrozhdenie'' (Renaissance) group in 1904. The party held its founding conference in Odessa in 1905. In the same year the party sent delegates, among them Nachman Syrkin, to the Basel Seventh Zionist Congress. However, while the mainstream Zionist movement rejected the idea of a Jewish state anywhere but in Eretz Yisrael, the Russian party favoured the idea of a Jewish territorial autonomy, outside of Palestine.Ėstraĭkh, G. United Jewish Socialist Workers Party
United Jewish Socialist Workers Party (, ''fareynikte yidishe sotsialistishe arbeter-partey'') was a political party that emerged in Russia in the wake of the 1917 February Revolution. Members of the party along with the Poalei Zion participated in the government of Ukraine and condemned the October Revolution. Its followers were generally known simply for the first portion of the name ''Fareynikte'' (פֿאַראײניקטע) - 'United'. Leon Bramson
Leon Bramson (born 1869 in Kaunas, then Russian Empire, d. March 2, 1941 in Marseille, France), was a Jewish activist, member of the first elected Russian Parliament in 1906-1907, then a leader and organizer of the World ORT. Attorney and member of the Central Committee of the League for the Attainment of Equal Rights for the Jewish People in Russia, he was elected to the 1906 First Duma elections after an electoral agreement made by the General Jewish Labour Bund with the Lithuanian Labourers' Party (''Trudoviks''). He became head of the Russian ORT in 1908 and later of the World ORT when its headquarters moved to Berlin in 1920, and cofounded in 1922 the American ORT Federation with Aaron Syngalowski (1890–1956). The Socialist Revolutionary Party (SR; ,, ) was a major socialist political party in the late Russian Empire, during both phases of the Russian Revolution, and in early Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, Soviet Russia. The party members were known as Esers (). The SRs were Agrarian socialism, agrarian socialists and supporters of a Democratic socialism, democratic socialist Russian republic. The Kherson electoral district () was a constituency created for the 1917 Russian Constituent Assembly election. The electoral district covered the Kherson Governorate. Odessa witnessed fierce competition for the Jewish vote, with fist-fights between Bundists and Zionists. David Lvovich of Fareynikte was elected as a SR list candidate. Results According to the U.S. historian Oliver Henry Radkey, whose account is the source for the results table below, the Odessa city results appeared complete, the Odessa uezd possibly incomplete, the Kherson uezd having results from 195 out of 223 voting centers, no indication about whether 2 other uezds results were complete or not. 1917 Russian Constituent Assembly Election
Elections to the Russian Constituent Assembly were held on 25 November 1917. Organized as a result of events in the February Revolution, the elections took place two months after they had been originally meant to occur. They are generally recognised as the first free elections in Russian history, though they did not produce a democratically elected government, as the Bolsheviks subsequently disbanded the Constituent Assembly and proceeded to rule the country as a one-party state with all opposition parties banned. Various academic studies have given alternative results. However, all indicate that the Bolsheviks were clear winners in the urban centres, and also took around two-thirds of the votes of soldiers on the Western Front.
