Biography He served as Lombard regional councilor from 2013 to 2018 in the 10th term of the Regional Council as a member of Five Star Movement (M5S). Violi ran for the Presidency of Lombardy in the 2018 regional election, against Attilio Fontana (LN, supported by the center-right coalition) and Giorgio Gori Giorgio Gori (born 24 March 1960, in Bergamo) is an Italian entrepreneur, journalist and politician. The Five Star Movement ( it, Movimento 5 Stelle , M5S) is a political party in Italy. Its leader and president is Giuseppe Conte, Prime Minister of Italy from 2018 until 2021. The M5S was founded on 4 October 2009 by Beppe Grillo, a comedian and blogger, and Gianroberto Casaleggio, a web strategist. From 2014 to 2017, it was a member of the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy group in the European Parliament, along with the UK Independence Party and minor Eurosceptic parties. Lombard Regional Election, 2018
The 2018 Lombard regional election took place on 4 March 2018. The election took place concurrently with the Italian general election and the Lazio regional election. Electoral system Since 2012, Lombardy has adopted its own legislation to elect its Council, very similar to national ''Tatarella Law'' of 1995. While the President of Lombardy and the leader of the opposition are still elected at-large, 78 councilors are elected by party lists under a form of semi-proportional representation. The winning coalition receives a jackpot of at least 45 seats, which are divided between all majority parties using the D'Hondt method, as it happens between the losing lists. Attilio Fontana (born 28 March 1952) is an Italian politician from Varese, Lombardy. He has served as President of Lombardy since 2018 leading a centre-right coalition. Biography Early political career A long-time member of Lega Lombarda and Lega Nord (LN), he was Mayor of Induno Olona from 1995 to 1999.
