Daredevil Collected Editions
The ''Marvel Comics'' character Daredevil (Marvel Comics character), Daredevil (the mantle assumed by Matt Murdock and Daredevil (Elektra Natchios), Elektra Natchios) first appeared in 1964 in ''Daredevil'' #1, written by Stan Lee and drawn by Bill Everett. The character's various appearances have been collated into hundreds of trade paperback, hardcover and omnibus collections. Collected editions by era Marvel's first attempt at chronologically collecting the core title was in 1991, with the ''Marvel Masterworks'' premium hardcover line. The series reprinted 10-12 comics per book. The next try was the ''Essential Marvel'' line, which reproduced comics in black and white. These books were released from 1996 to 2013, before being replaced by the full-color ''Marvel Epic Collection, Epic Collections''. ''Marvel Complete Collections'', ''Marvel Ultimate Collections'', and ''Marvel Complete Epics'' are large full-color trade paperback collections of previously published Marvel comics, typically containing 300–500 pages. The ''Complete Collection'' and ''Ultimate Collection'' lines collect entire runs of one title, or related titles by one creator, with the use of 'Ultimate' or 'Complete' largely interchangeable. The ''Complete Epic'' line collects large crossovers spanning several titles. The initial book solicited was the first volume ''X-Men: Complete Age Of Apocalypse'' in January 2005, for a 30 March 2005 release. The ''Marvel Comics'' oversized hardcover format launched in 2002 in comics, 2002, reproducing full-colour comics in books approximately 11in x 7.5in in size. This was roughly an inch taller and wider than the original comic book. ''Marvel Omnibus'' is a line of large format, high quality, full color, hardcover graphic novel omnibuses published by Marvel Comics. They often contain complete runs, either by collecting multiple consecutive issues, or by focusing on the works of a particular writer or artist. The company's first experiment with a large hardcover was 2004's ''Ultimate Spider-Man Collection'', which was exclusively published by Barnes & Noble. The 992-page book cost $49.99 and had the same contents as the first three oversized hardcovers from Brian Michael Bendis' ''Ultimate Spider-Man''. This release did not use the 'omnibus' branding. Marvel's first official omnibus came a year later, with ''Fantastic Four Vol. 1'' in June 2005. With 848 pages, it collected the first 30 issues and an ''Annual'' of the comic. DC Compact Comics is a line of full-color paperbacks from DC Comics. Announced in November 2023, ahead of a June 2024 launch, they were described as "perfect for readers of prose and manga looking to pick up a new-reader-friendly storyline in a self-contained full color graphic novel". At 8.5in x 5.5in, they are smaller than the traditional 10.2in x 6.6in of a collected trade paperback comic.
