DC Compact Comics
DC Compact Comics is a line of full-color paperbacks from DC Comics. Announced in November 2023, ahead of a June 2024 launch, they were described as "perfect for readers of prose and manga looking to pick up a new-reader-friendly storyline in a self-contained full color graphic novel". At 8.5in x 5.5in, they are smaller than the traditional 10.2in x 6.6in of a collected trade paperback comic. The initial 10 titles released in 2024 were: ''Batman: The Court of Owls'', ''Watchmen'', ''All-Star Superman'', '' Far Sector'', '' Batman: Hush'', '' Wonder Woman: Earth One'', ''Harley Quinn & The Gotham City Sirens'', '' Joker'', '' American Vampire Book One'', and ''Catwoman: Trail of the Catwoman'' – with a further 15 books announced for 2025. Mystery Fiction
Mystery is a genre fiction, fiction genre where the nature of an event, usually a murder or other crime, remains wiktionary:mysterious, mysterious until the end of the story. Often within a closed circle of suspects, each suspect is usually provided with a credible motive and a reasonable opportunity for committing the crime. The central character is often a detective (such as Sherlock Holmes), who eventually solves the mystery by logical deduction from facts presented to the reader. Some mystery books are non-fiction. Mystery fiction can be detective stories in which the emphasis is on the puzzle or suspense element and its logical solution such as a whodunit. Mystery fiction can be contrasted with hardboiled detective stories, which focus on action and gritty realism. Dave McKean
David McKean (born 29 December 1963) is an England, English artist. His work incorporates drawing, painting, photography, collage, found objects, digital art, and sculpture. McKean has illustrated works by authors such as S. F. Said, S.F. Said, Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison, Heston Blumenthal, Ray Bradbury and Stephen King. He has also Film director, directed three feature films. Career Comics McKean first showed his work to editors at Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Continuity Comics when visiting New York City in 1986. There, he met Neil Gaiman and the pair collaborated on the graphic novel ''Violent Cases'', which was published in 1987. This was followed in 1988 by a ''Black Orchid (comic book), Black Orchid'' miniseries and ''Hellblazer'' covers for DC Comics. Grant Morrison
Grant Morrison (born 31 January 1960) is a Scottish comic book writer, screenwriter, and producer. Their work is known for its nonlinear narratives, Humanism, humanist philosophy and counterculture, countercultural leanings. ''Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth'' (often shortened to ''Batman: Arkham Asylum'') is a ''Batman'' graphic novel written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Dave McKean. The story follows the vigilante Batman, who is called upon to quell a maddening riot taking place in the infamous Arkham Asylum, a psychiatric hospital housing the most dangerous supervillains in Gotham City. Inside, Batman confronts many of his enduring rogues gallery, such as the Joker (comics), Joker, Two-Face, and Killer Croc.
