Danzig (band)
Danzig is an American heavy metal band led by former Misfits and Samhain frontman Glenn Danzig. Formed in 1987 in Lodi, New Jersey out of the latter band, its "classic" lineup included the eponymous vocalist and keyboardist (real name Glenn Anzalone), guitarist John Christ (real name John Knoll), bassist Eerie Von (real name Eric Stellmann) and drummer Chuck Biscuits (real name Charles Montgomery). Earning a major hit with a live version of its 1988 song "Mother", the band's musical style fuses gothic atmospheres with blues-infused rock and metal. As of 2023, Danzig has released 12 studio albums (two consisting entirely of cover versions), two EPs, one live album, and one compilation album. Wacken Open Air
Wacken Open Air (, abbreviated as W:O:A) is a Heavy metal music, heavy metal music festival, held annually since 1990 on the first weekend of August in the village of Wacken, Schleswig-Holstein, Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Almost all styles and subgenres of hard rock and heavy metal music, metal are represented and hosted. It is now one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world and one of the largest open-air festivals in Germany. The Ritz was a New York City rock club in the 1980s and early 1990s. History The Ritz was founded in 1980 by Jerry Brandt in the historic Webster Hall ballroom and concert space located at 119 East 11th Street between Third and Fourth avenues in the East Village neighborhood of New York City. The Ritz focused primarily on live performances, often of newer acts, but also featured dancing. ''The Lost Tracks of Danzig'' is a compilation album of American heavy metal band Danzig. The set showcases a number of previously unreleased songs, ranging from the band's first recording sessions in 1987–88 until the sessions for their 2004 studio album, '' Circle of Snakes''. Background Glenn Danzig mentioned a compilation of unreleased songs in several interviews as early as 1990, prior to the release of '' Lucifuge''. ''Live on the Black Hand Side'' is a double-disc live album by American heavy metal band Danzig. It was recorded at various shows between 1992 and 2000 (including Danzig's infamous Halloween '92 show at Irvine Meadows, CA), and was released in 2001 on Glenn Danzig's Evilive Records label, distributed by Restless Records. It is the first official, full-length live album from the band, however, the 1993 EP, '' Thrall-Demonsweatlive'' and select CD singles have featured live material. "Mother" is a song by American heavy metal band Danzig. It was originally released in August 1989 as the lead single from their debut album, '' Danzig''. In 1993–1994, almost six years after its original release, a remixed version of the song titled "Mother '93" became a hit on radio and earned Buzz Bin rotation on MTV after a music video incorporating live footage was created to promote the band's new EP, '' Thrall-Demonsweatlive''. Chuck Biscuits
Chuck Biscuits (born Charles Montgomery on April 17, 1965) is a retired Canadian drummer best known for his work across multiple punk rock and heavy metal bands. Biscuits was a member of D.O.A. from 1978 to 1982, playing on the band's first two albums before briefly joining Black Flag and later Circle Jerks. He later joined Danzig in 1987, playing on the band's first four albums as well as their first EP before leaving in 1994. Most recently, he played in Social Distortion from 1996 to 1999.
