Daniil Orain
Daniil Orain (born July 2000) is a Russian journalist known for his YouTube channel "1420 by Daniil Orain" in which he interviewed Russians in the street who agreed to comment on various political topics, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In typical interview sessions, he asked the same question to a variety of pedestrians in a busy public area to create a vox populi report. In May and July 2024, Orain said that the channel would be "archived", and on his personal channel, he explained that he felt burned out from his work and wants to focus on other projects in the future. The 1420 channel continues publishing interviews in the same style, made by Orain's collaborators Artyom and Maxim. Roman Albertovich Abalin (, born ), better known by his screen name NFKRZ (pronounced "No fuckers"), is an English-speaking Russian YouTuber who is known for his commentary on topics such as food, vlogs, and Russian politics among others. As a dissident and outspoken critic of Russian politics, he is sometimes compared to Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Roman left Russia, and moved to Tbilisi, Georgia in March 2022. Two years later, in March 2024, he received a visa from the European Union and settled in Lisbon, Portugal. Bucha Massacre
The Bucha massacre (; ) was the mass murder of Ukrainian civilians and prisoners of war by the Russian Armed Forces during the fight for and occupation of the city of Bucha as part of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Photographic and video evidence of the massacre emerged on 1 April 2022, after Russian forces withdrew from the city. Verbal reports had been emerging since early March. According to local authorities, 458 bodies have been recovered from the town, including nine children under the age of 18. LGBT Rights In Russia
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people in Russia face significant legal and social challenges not experienced by non-LGBTQ residents. Although sexual activity between consenting adults of the same sex is legal, homosexuality is disapproved of by much of the population and pro-LGBTQ advocacy groups are deemed "extremist" and banned. It is illegal for individuals to "promote homosexuality" and same-sex couples and households headed by same-sex couples are ineligible for the legal protections available to opposite-sex couples. Russia provides no anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people and does not have a designation for hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
