Dan Bidois
Daniel Michael Bidois (born 1983) is a New Zealand politician and economist who sits as the National Party Member for Northcote in the New Zealand House of Representatives. Bidois was elected on 9 June 2018 as the Member for Northcote. He was a Strategy Manager for Foodstuffs prior to his election. Early life and education Bidois is both of European and Māori descent, adopted into a family of Ngāti Maniapoto descent. He grew up in Howick, Auckland and attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School, Howick Intermediate and Howick College. Bidois left Howick College at 15 to pursue a butchery apprenticeship, originally with Seaside Meats. Within two weeks of beginning his apprenticeship, he was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. He had chemotherapy and an operation to save his leg. Shanan Halbert
Shanan Kiritea Halbert (born 24 April 1982) is a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. From 2020 to 2023, he was the Member of Parliament for . He was re-elected in 2024 after the resignation of Kelvin Davis. Early life and career Halbert has affiliation to Rongowhakaata and Ngāti Whitikaupeka through his father, while his mother is pākehā. He grew up in Napier, and moved to Auckland after graduating from high school. He has a BA in education and Māori from the University of Auckland and a certificate in Contemporary Performing Arts from AUT. He started, but did not complete, an MBA. Halbert has worked at Glenfield College, where he set up the Health Sciences Academy, and at Catholic college Hato Petera. He was the Head of Relationships at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. The 2020 New Zealand general election was held on Saturday 17 October 2020 to determine the composition of the 53rd New Zealand Parliament. The 52nd New Zealand Parliament was a meeting of the legislature in New Zealand, which opened on 7 November 2017 following the 2017 general election and dissolved on 6 September 2020. The New Zealand Parliament comprises the Sovereign (represented by the governor-general) and the House of Representatives, which consists of 120 members. The 52nd Parliament was elected using a mixed-member proportional representation (MMP) voting system. Members of Parliament (MPs) represent 71 geographical electorates: 16 in the South Island, 48 in the North Island and 7 Māori electorates.
