Corofin GAA is a Gaelic football club based in Corofin, County Galway, Ireland. It is a member of the Galway branch of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). The club serves the two parishes of Cummer and Kilmoylan and the village of Belclare. Corofin are the 2019–20 All-Ireland Club Champions, after winning their third-successive All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship final by defeating Kilcoo of Down in January 2020. History The club has had a long association with the GAA dating back as far as its inception. The Galway County Boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Galway GAA are one of the 32 county boards in Ireland; they are responsible for Gaelic games in County Galway, and for the Galway county teams. Galway is one of the few dual counties in Ireland, competing in a similar level in both hurling and football codes. Gaelic football (; short name '')'', commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA, or football, is an Irish team sport. A form of football, it is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or palming the ball into the other team's goal (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goal and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Corofin or Corrofin () is a village and parish in County Galway, Ireland, situated on the N17 road between Galway City and Tuam. History Corofin Castle is a mid-15th century tower house, now partly in ruins.
