Dakota Tavern
The Dakota Tavern was a live music venue and bar in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. History The Dakota opened in December 2006. It was co-owned by business partners Shawn Creamer and Shannon Kohlmeier. It is located in the Little Portugal neighbourhood of Toronto. The bar participated as a venue yearly for North by Northeast. The venue also hosts a recurring event on weekends called ''Bluegrass Brunch''. In 2020, owners of the bar expressed concerns about rising insurance prices during the COVID-19 pandemic in Toronto and considered closing. In October 2024 it was sold to new owners, 1001020185 Ontario Inc., and closed temporarily. In March 2025, media reports said that the new owners planned to replace the Dakota with a new business, Mickey Limbos. The Sadies are a Canadian rock and roll / country and western band from Toronto, Ontario. The band consists of Travis Good, Sean Dean and Mike Belitsky. Dallas Good, a founding member, died in 2022. Dallas and Travis are the sons of Margaret and Bruce Good, and nephews of Brian and Larry Good, who are members of the Canadian country group The Good Brothers. Sleepy Sun was an American psychedelic rock band, formed in Santa Cruz, California and now based in San Francisco. The band was composed of vocalist Bret Constantino, guitarists Matt Holliman and Evan Reiss, and drummer Brian Tice. The band released five studio albums before quietly disbanding in 2019. Slow Down Molasses is a Canadian indie rock band from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The current five piece lineup consists of Tyson McShane, Aaron Scholz, Levi Soulodre, Chris Morin and Jordan Kurtz. Gordon Edgar Downie (February 6, 1964 – October 17, 2017) was a Canadian rock singer-songwriter, musician, writer, poet, and activist. He was the singer and lyricist for the Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip, which he fronted from its formation in 1984 until his death in 2017. Corb Lund (born January 29, 1969) is a Canadian country and western singer-songwriter from Taber, Alberta, Canada. He has released twelve albums, three of which are certified gold. Lund tours regularly in Canada, the United States and Australia, and has received several awards in Canada and abroad. Lindi Marie Ortega (born May 28, 1979) is a Canadian country singer-songwriter from Toronto, Ontario, who had lived in Nashville, Tennessee then moved to Western Canada in 2017. Jason Robert Collett is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Toronto, Ontario. He has released six solo studio albums, and is a former member of Broken Social Scene. Early life Collett was born in Bramalea, Ontario, Bramalea, a Greater Toronto Area suburb. He began writing songs at a young age to escape the boredom of his suburban life, and cites Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson and Nick Lowe as influences. Lady A, known until 2020 as Lady Antebellum, is an American country music group formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2006.
