Dagon Myothit District
Dagon Myothit District (, ) is the easternmost District of Yangon in Yangon Region, Myanmar. The district contains four townships and was created in 2022, being one of the new districts created from the former East Yangon District. Administration The district has four townships- North Dagon Township, East Dagon Township, South Dagon Township and Dagon Seikkan Township. The district received a new district-level court. The district organises a firefighting training course based out of North Dagon Township. History The district's four townships were all created as new satellite towns in 1989 by the State Peace and Development Council military government. As of 2009, much of the district remained largely undeveloped and lacked basic municipal services. In the 21st century, the district received more development attention. Samanea Yangon Market is a wholesale and retail market located between corner of Bago River Road and Yadana in Dagon Seikkan Township, Yangon, Myanmar. It is currently managed and owned by Samanea Group. History The wholesale market was developed by Singapore-based Samanea Group and Myanmar-based EI Company Limited, with the permission of Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) and Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC). Samanea invested more than into the project. Samanea Yangon Market is referred to as Phase I of the development, and construction began in 2019. Construction of the market completed in June 2020. Dagon University ( ), located in North Dagon Township, North Dagon, Yangon, is one of the largest universities in Myanmar. Dagon Bridge
Dagon or Dagan (; ) was a god worshipped in ancient Syria, across the middle of the Euphrates, with primary temples located in Tuttul and Terqa, though many attestations of his cult come from cities such as Mari and Emar as well. In settlements situated in the upper Euphrates area, he was regarded as the "father of gods" similar to Mesopotamian Enlil or Hurrian Kumarbi, as well as a lord of the land, a god of prosperity, and a source of royal legitimacy. A large number of theophoric names, both masculine and feminine, attests that he was a popular deity. Thanlyin Township
Thanlyin Township () is a township in Thanlyin District, southeast Yangon Region, Myanmar. The township has only one town- the principal town of Thanlyin, which has seventeen urban wards. The township also has 57 villages grouped into 28 village tracts. The township located across the Bago River from the city of Yangon and is home to Thilawa Port, the largest port terminal in Myanmar.
